Xanax zonks me far too much, I wind up passing out or blacking out. Ativan is nice, very quick to come on, but leaves me feeling a bit hungover (as does Xanax). Valium I've found to be perfect for acute anxiety as long as I catch it early (valium takes a while to come on). To me it's been the gentlest, most effective, least jarring benzo, albeit a bit sedating.

also: as I'm sure you can see, there are a lot of very different and even contrary opinions on diff. drugs on this thread, which just goes to show you that diff drugs affect diff people with diff preferences

^ You should definately try clonazepam, it never left with any feelings of a hangover or lingering the next day and comes on almost as fast as lorazeapam. Definately my favorite benzo.

^ have but my benzo use isnt daily and certainly isnt 24/7, and clonazepam is a bit too long-acting for my purposes and tastes.

im on 4mg klonopin a day its been about 6 weeks since if been prescribed
i have quite a tolerance it these days to get ANY effect i chew 4mg on a empty stomach. i may switch in the future to 3mg xanax xr or regular 1mg xanax pills 3 times a day

When I was withdrawing from GBL, and was close to having a panic attack, I took 3mgs of clonazepam and it was the first time I actually noticed the change in my mental state. Normally I dont feel any effects instantly from benzos, but in this case all I can say was WOW. I became super mellow and even enjoyed the company of my parents (it was my birthday, yes I was wiwthdrawing on my birthday), which I normally don't. I then went home and slept like a champ.

Next day, my withdrawal symptons had dimished quite a bit.

If we're talking strictly for panic attacks and anxiety, clonazepam is the strongest anxiolytic among the "anxiolytic benzos". Alprazolam and bromazepam come next, with alprazolam just edging bromazepam to the #2 spot. Though most of the "hypnotic benzos" are stronger anxiolytics than all 3 - including midazolam, flutoprazepam, flunitrazepam, temazepam, nimetazepam, and nitrazepam.

yeah i was going to ask about bromazepam because ive got some and wondered if the work real good?

i can't believe no one really loves valium more than any of the rest!?

i'd say this would be my order for acute panic, and also for SAD/GAD:

diazepam (Valium) > alprazolam (Xanax) > lorazepam (Ativan) > clonazepam (Klonopin) > chlordiazepoxide (Librium)

klonopin (with the exception of the ODT klon) takes too long to kick in (45-60 mins). valium & ativan take about 8-12 mins, xanax is a little longer, librium is a little quicker than klonopin but a weak benzo IMO, for a panic attack i use:

10-20mg diazepam
4-6mg lorazepam
2-3mg alprazolam
2-4mg clonazepam
100-150mg chlordiazepoxide

K-pin for a large proportion takes more like 1 - 2 weeks to kick. It takes quite awhile to reach steady state.

I've been rxed benzos now for a couple years, and I can tell you I've tried many many different kinds (mostly prescribed but also ones illegal in the US). Honestly, klonopin and ativan have worked the best for me. Klonopin is great for the whole day, or half the day depending on how bad your disorder is. And ativan is amazing for getting rid of those panic attacks that are just waiting to happen. But you have to remember we are all chemically different, and will respond to different drugs differently.

Personally I think xanax is shit, and didn't do anything except make me want to eat ten bars a day, so instead I just got rid of them. I'm just now figuring out though that my anxiety is more linked to my supposed 'bi-polar' and from what I believe, my ADD. Getting yourself healthy really helps a lot, and you may find your panic disorder is caused from another disorder, which can be helped without the use of benzos. Because as much fun as you think being prescribed benzos is, it's not. You will be dependent on them, and if you run out early for some reason (bad month more attacks then usual) you go through hell if you start to withdrawl. Lucky enough my pharmacy would always give me enough to last me until my next doctors visit, which is pretty unheard of.

Bromazepam (12mg), procured yesterday, at a mildly naive tolerance following a +week break from a period of taking clonazepam as needed [2mg], killed anxiety without the sedative/hypnotic impairment of clonazepam or the heavyness of alprazolam. 2 mgs of c-zepam turned the lights out effectively and had a lon yearned, restive sleep, all indication for anxiety aside.

Ive heard alot of good things about bromazepam id love to try it. You can get it here in canada but ive never seen anyone get a script for it i doubt most doctors hardly even know what it is.

Valium is good at stopping a panic attack but it never lasts very long for me. Thats why i like clonazepam it's the longest acting and best overall of the bunch for everyday use.

I'm only going to tell you once. If you don't stay on topic and you continue arguing(disagreeing is fine) with people you're not going to be posting here much longer. -GM
