The Best Anti-Depressant (Pref. SSRI) For Anxiety (Doc appt at 3pm EST)

yeah I started using 150 mg EFFEXOR and after 2 months I am feling a lot better. I also use Serepax ( a benzo ) and it seems to work well with it. But like you have heard I have had some drop in sex drive

In my experience, citalopram has worked well. Tends to be less stimulating than some of the other SSRI's so good for anxiety.
 
Tramadol works for only a certain percentage of people. I've been through many anti-depressants - tramadol beats them all but its addictive if your one of the efficient metabolizers of it otherwise it will probably do nothing for you only make you feel bad.
 
Effexor has the worst withdrawal syndrome and is known for causing brain zaps. It also has a terrible side-effect profile. I'd recommend zoloft, lexapro and prozac, as those tend to have milder side-effects and withdrawal syndromes. Paxil, Effexor and Wellbutrin are notorious for their side-effects and terrible withdrawal syndromes.
 
Celexa (citalopram) is the best known anxiolytic anti-depressant. It works wonders for me, turned me into an extrovert, gets me motivated and makes me feel normal.

Maybe it's all the drugs that I do with it, though. It's hard to gauge when you're spun out twisted slathered silly spunnickers like peanutbutters or whatever I am right now.

yea, i don't know, all i know is that i wanna change te celexa for something else. even if it's trypthofan(sp?). but i don't know what can help me with the anxiety. that's y i wanna try effexor or wellbutrin.
 
OK well, Wellbutrin is structurally related to amphetamine and ruined my adolescence. I can't advocate you to try that. Effexor, I've heard horror stories. Try the search engine.
 
I've found that anything that increases norepinephrine but has no effect on dopamine - e.g. desipramine, Effexor and to a lesser extent ephedrine - makes me feel more irritable or agitated.
 
that is weird you havent tried prozac i was on it for 2 yrs it worked great
another is cymbalta i didnt like that but to each his own
also busperone is known for treating GAD

^^^Yep Celexa is the way to go and believe me I have been on lots of anti-depressants. Lets see here I was prescribed Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Wellburtrin, Celexa and finally Lexapro..... Lexapro was the best by far

I was going to suggest Lexapro which is basically the same thing as Celexa anyway, but twice as potent because 50% of Celexa is actually inactive.
 
I strongly suggest Lyrica. It takes care of what Effexor and Xanax do at the same time and its only a twice a day dose. its not even dose as needed. its a scheduled dose everyday. it usually shows effects in the first week. It has worked wonders for me and it often regarded as a wonder drug.
 
^ Lyrica's pharmacology is completely different from those. They combined work on gaba, opioid, norepinephrine, and serotonin, while pregabalin is an ion channel fucker or something. It doesn't even bind to any receptors i believe. But it's really good for pain and anxiety, and maybe depression, i guess.
 
Tricyclics have a good sedatory effect. It did wonders for my depression (just gone back Dosulepin) and helps get to sleep the first few times it's taken. It's also supposed to be one of the best groups of AD's for anxiety.
It hasn't helped in my case mind.

It works on noradrenaline and serotonin receptors.

Venflaxine has an opioidergic effect, i"ve heard. don't feel like verifying it now.
