The BDD Quiz Part II: Congrats to our first ever winner Polymath.

Effie, i've been trying to partake in this quiz without using wikipedia, but you're making it very difficult :p

Haha. Writing quiz questions is a lot harder than you'd think, you know, what with wikipedia and google...

So do you have an answer for me nAON? :D

Yeah, we made a point to find something that's not available quickly via google, nor using wiki at all. ;)

It's right here on bluelight - 14.9 g/L at 25 deg C. (Well 14.9 is out of the paper, the equation in the thread gives 15.1)

edit:

Actually.. shit, you're supposed to let someone else guess before you can again. I always fuck this up!

See what you guys have me doing?? I'm in bed and checking the bloody quiz, hehe...

Okay I'm really sorry skillet, I know you were unaware of that rule as we always forget to say it (is on front page though) but we've strictly enforced it in the past and kinda have to continue now.. I've removed your answer, you can guess again when someone else has...

If anyone gets grumpy I am giving up on this quiz, hehe..

If no one guesses in like 24 hours skillet I'll let you try again ;)

Bump.

Note as time has elapsed Sepher is permitted to guess again.

If the question remains unanswered it will be there to be guessed but I will provide another.

I guess you mean me?

7.21 g/L at 0 degrees C.

That's ok effie, I saw the rule but forgot about it sorry. And I always think of the T in STP as being 25 degrees C, then I looked up STP and found there were loads of definitions.

Yep, and that's the correct answer! Nice work :) (Pretty sure it took you less time to find the thread, guess / answer twice and what not, than it did for Effie and I to find the answer in the first place haha, good job!)

There's one definition for STP, but a bunch of variations that aren't quite it, STAP for instance is 294.15K (21*C) - and the 25*C you used is most often used with gasses in the equation PV=nRT (for effusion rates). :D Nice job though! I wouldn't have found it haha. I was getting ready to calculate it if we couldn't find the answer.

Yeah should have figured it was the IUPAC one you meant, but the wiki page confused me :)

Where did you guys find the answer?

You're gonna laugh - effie found it on Reddit initially through google, but wasn't convinced enough and found it in a googledocs file. I can't recall the password to mine so I wasn't able to read through the article.

I'm ashamed.

You kids finding answers on Reddit.

What is the world coming to?

Will get some questions going when my caffeine kicks in.

I know, huh? Craziness. However, Reddit contains some of the nerdiest of nerds, let me tell you...

1. Sepher - 4 points
2. atm23 - 3 points
3. JAY.DEE - 1 point
3. SerotonergicHaze - 1 point
3. skillet - 1 point

Question:

What side effect from using a certain drug is completely fallacious in the movie "Requiem for a Dream".

Pupil dilation after opiate dosing. Fairly consistent. The little 20 second clip where they tie off, blood rushes, pupils enlarge. :)

Correct :D.

Injecting opiates causes mioisis, however prior to shooting dope in the film, they experience mydriasis.

Question:

If you're buying Heroin in the pit, who are you buying off and what TV show is this from.

Haha you should be ashamed! You start this quiz off and call yourself quizmaster then don't post a question for ages and leave PJ and I searching for the answer to the question he came up with on google for over half an hour hehe :D was satisfying when I found it at last though.

The second souce was a research paper with solubility at various different temps and solvents. See how much work I put into this, cross-checking my sources for the answers :D
