The BDD Quiz Part II: Congrats to our first ever winner Polymath.

Or is it that it can induce very brief periods of sedation and analgesia for procedures that an adult would tolerate without medication where as a child would require restraint, like a couple of stitches and such.

Hmmmm...... nope (to you both). I'm feeling strict today. But close (not saying which one ;) )

Hmmmm, I'm thinking if I'd only added a word and removed another I might have got this one, got to go out now but maybe I'll still be in time for another shot, reckon your being ultra strict on this one Mistress Effie;)

Haha. I vary on this quiz from far too lax to overly strict. But as Trips has incapacitated himself with 32mgs Xanax, I'm going to carry on being the Quiz Mistress for a bit :D

From http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2900045/ :

Ketamine is typically not used in adults because of frequent association with emergence delirium; however, ketamine is used frequently in the pediatric population, where this effect is not typically elicited.

So the hallucinations upon waking from anesthesia are more common in adults (also, of course a 10 year old kid getting a PCP rage like reaction from ket is much less dangerous to medical personnel than a 100kg adult man...)

To me it looks like SerotonergicHaze was correct...

Inscapapitated I am snot!

I think you might have undermined your own argument there...

Dingdingding!

And yeah he/she (which, SH?) was.. I just wanted the bit about kids not getting the hallucinations/delirium/craziness in there as I find that fascinating. But I guess I was being over-strict. So SH, you get the point, sorry for being strict! I liked your use of the term "emergence reaction" :D

(I'd love to give you a point polymath for providing a reference for your answer, hehe, in fact I'd love to instigate that as a rule, but sadly I don't think I can...)

Leaderboard:

1. Sepher - 4 points
2. atm23 - 2 points
3. JAY.DEE 1 point
3. SerotonergicHaze 1 point

Question to follow if either of your mods is sober enough to come up with one.

And there was me thinking I's have missed at least one, mods weekend indulgence and Effies need for sleep has still left me in the running:) more questions from the Tripman Effie's getting too much outs being meanly strict....but as most of us are enjoying i it far from a complaint ;)

Heheee. Okay I will try not to be too strict.

Unfortunately today my mind is entirely blank. Goddam drugs :|

Will post more Q's in a bit.

The number of ways I've manged to get 2 and 3 to appear on that list has made my day, Bill is smiling down on me ;)

*bumps*

It's Friday. Someone must have a question? Even if Effie and Tripman have better things to be doing? Can't think what like on a Friday evening but they should have thought about that before starting the bloody quiz! :!

*taps foot*

Hey hey, sorry, been mad-busy and not come up with one for a while, and Trips is AWOL (most likely wasted hehe..)

Gimme a few mins, I'll have a think. Sorry guys!

And I would like to add that the quiz was all Trips' idea and nothing to do with me whatsoever, I have just been helping out so direct any complaints to him ;) :D

^ hahaha. It's true! :D <3 Trips but this quiz can be a headache at times ;)

Happy to help out though and I have a question for you (many thanks to PJK2501 for this one, twas a joint effort!)

What is the solubility of acetaminophen at STP in H2O?

Remember: if you guess incorrectly, you must let someone else take a guess before you go again...
