atropa belladonna is not entirely evil. as an anticholinergic drug, it is useful in counteracting the effects of several nerve agents including sarin.

and ergot is the easiest precursor for the semisynthetic LSD, which is not very evil at all.

digitalis can be used to stabilize an irregular heartbeat.

just because something is dangerous does not mean it is without utility.

please understand that the plants being "evil" is basically just a joke...

They are "evil" because they are often used as poisons, are toxic and are associated with witches and evil shamans.

I got the idea to make this list after reading the book "Wicked Plants" (no I didn't just copy their list), it's a great book, but a bit sensational.

This thread isn't meant to be a debate... so let's not turn it into one.

why isn't it meant to be a debate?

i was led to understand that threads on a forum are for people to post their ideas and learn the ideas of others.

you seem to create new topics and expect us all to read them and sticky them without giving our own input?

i mean i guess it can be a debate if you want...

you can post whatever you want of course

im not even sure what you really mean....

expect y'all to sticky them? where did i say that?

and please... give your input.

Here's an interesting fact...

A relative of the famous theorist of evolution Charles Darwin (I believe it was Erasmus Darwin) stated that the Antiaris toxicaria or the "Upas Tree" could poison a man simply by inhaling the fumes the tree emitted! And apparently from a fairly long distance!

My friend ate Datura seeds once, 200 of them.

He tripped balls. He had the mouth as dry as Clint Eastwood's in "The Good The Bad & The Ugly" desert scene so he decided to go brush his teeth. He followed his childhood friends into the bathroom and behold, there was somebody in the bathroom already! Staring at him! and as he got closer, so did this stranger. Then the stranger started mocking him, mimicking his every move so my friend got very irritated, and punched him in the face (cutting his hand by smashing his reflection in the bathroom mirror of course). Then he tripped for another 17 and a half hours.

His friend, who had taken the same amount and had decided to take a bus home, by himself, ended up handing his coat to a "teddy-bear" whom he had met and befriended. Never found it....

Anyways, long story short, deliriants are... FUN!

Yes, these plants are VERY dangerous and I'm not encouraging anyone to even attempt to use them.

I simply posted this because many of these plants have interested histories... some were used as arrow poisons, some where used to determine "guilt" in criminals and others were even used as medicine or as shamanic tools.

others were even used as medicine or as shamanic tools.

Well, how do you think that was done, by eating, infusing or making ointments of these plants to absorb their alkaloids.

Shamans used these to enter altered states where they were said to communicate with spirits and gain spiritual knowledge.

I agree that eating 200 seeds is a bit much, and I have never tried it myself (18 hours of heavy tripping must be overwhelming)

Ya, duh, but I'm not encouraging anybody else to do that! You can easily kill yourself if you don't know what your doing!

You don't think I need to add that disclaimer for the incredibly dangerous plants above?

I wouldn't want anybody thinking they can just get high off them or something!
