The Australian (illicit) drug policy timeline: 1985-2010
The Australian (illicit) drug policy timeline provides a list of key events, policy and legislative changes that have occurred in Australia between 1985 and December 31 2009. Events are listed by jurisdiction, at the national and state/ territory level.

page 2,

1989 - Release of report of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the National Criminal Authority: “Drugs, Crime and Society.” Report examined the efficacy and social costs of drug law enforcement and concluded that prohibition had not worked and was associated with considerable costs to users and society. Committee outlined a number of possible alternatives to the current policy, including harsher penalties, decriminalisation and regulation, but did not come to a consensus as to which alternative was best:8)

2010 - Still waiting for an alternative ..............................:X:X.

2030 - ? Please ....................:!:!

Returning the to OT, I'm not so sure this paper is all that comprehensive and/or accurate. Couple of things I can't find, and a peculiar entry or two (and spelling mistakes etc). I'll have more of a look when I get time, but I would suggest checking any legislative changes you know occurred in your state against what is stated in this paper.
