^^ have you tried starting it in safe mode ? F8 on start up or maybe Shift +F8 if your using Windows 8 / 8.1. You should be able to recover the machine to an earlier state.

My last car (a Mazda RX-8 ) was at least £48 an hour for labour, if I remember correctly. A year ago.

I also had an RX8 until the rotor seals went for the second time last year. I'd already spent the best part of £3000 having the engine rebuilt a couple of years before, so thought it best to cut my losses. Got a BMW 335i now and although the power is still there, the handling, character and soul of the Mazda is sorely missed.

I just used the recovery partion, 'refresh windows' but it said the HDD is locked.

I've got access to command prompt, thoughts as to unlock? It had me type in my password the 2nd try but it still said it was locked...

To be more precise "the drive windows is installed on is locked..."

It's partioned into C:/, D:/ and recovery. C:/ is where windows is.

Copilot and Sygic are the most used I think, they turn your cellphone into a full-fledged gps with the maps stored locally on the device, so no internet connection needed. I've been using copilot for years, never failed me

Same here. Copilot can be a bit slow to catch up with you on roundabouts and complex junctions, but apart from that it's indispensable. Even if you know where you're going!

I feel your pain. :( 3 grand?? I managed to offload mine before I had to spend money on the failing engine (low compression; hot start problems). Loved her though and get a pang of sorrow every time I see another one on the road.

Good call. That's exactly what happened to mine. Both times.

I long for another one but the Mrs won't let me. Impractical, blah blah, fuel economy, blah blah, money pit, etc...

Yeah, it's a recurring theme with RX-8s. I quite fancy trading in the Beamer for a 370z, or something else with a bit of character. I've now given the German " executive car" thing a go and it's just not for me.

Yes, only briefly if I tap the touch-screen. I had installed the update & restarted fine earlier in the day then it crashed with the usual internal video scheduler error I get with Netflix from time-to-time then it restarted and this happened. I even saw the wifi logo at login briefly after it booted once but not sure what is going on.

I was going to try Google it today on my Dad's laptop.

Yup, that's the same issue I encountered. I didn't find a solution for it besides doing a rollback installation (if you have recovery points stored). I've searched high and low and am usually quite good in solving IT-problems but this one got the better of me. Ended up re-installing my system and using another version than I had previously installed. The problem didn't come back. Oh by the way safe mode didn't work either for me, black screen as well. But from what I've read sometimes safe mode does work with this problem so try that first. If that doesn't work boot up to the recovery menu and try to do a rollback installation

*edit* didn't see your most recent reply

Perhaps your keyboard is in another layout than when you first set your password? Try typing your password in azerty (or qwerty if you're normally working in azerty). If that doesn't work try playing around in the bios, AHCI sometimes causes this so try to switch that off, or switch it on if it's off already. What's also possible is that some windows files are damaged, so if you can get into recovery mode you could try to start the included command prompt and run "sfc /scannow", the same can be done in safe mode, if that still works in your case

Thanks, I tried the bootrec commands to unlock the drive as I had a similar problem once trying to format an old HDD but to no avail... I shall give that sfc command a go tomorrow along with another link Allein kindly provided me with... too complex for a relaxing evening. :D

Angry, because it's looking very likely that I ll have to move to find work. Which means smaller shittier city, no friends and a far away angry fiance.
so angry i dint even feel like spamming the porn thread

Angry because while cleaning my keyboard I've pressed something that has rotated my screen through 90degrees so everything is on it's side and I'm too computer illiterate to know how to fix it (BTW The reason that I had to clean my keyboard wasn't JUST that they keys weren't moving due to all the hardened jizz..........there was a bit of curry on it as well :D:D:D).

Any tips on how to fix the screen would be appreciated though

Usually a setting in the display settings of your video card.... layout should be landscape. .. rotate te screen to orient yourself?

@sm she cant come the next couple of years (still has a sort of contract. ..)

Hold down control and alt and try pressing the arrow keys.

Thank you...that worked. I knew it must be a key press thing as I fucked it in the first place by pressing loads of random keys whilst cleaning the keyboard (note to self - unplug keyboard first next time).

I've seen people do it to others for a "joke" on the PC we have at the station that we use for checking our work e-mails (we only have 1) and paramedics/EMTs are notoriously computer illiterate (or often just generally illiterate).

I'm a bit less angry now....thank you s0laris :-)

Cunt bastard fucking douche motherfucker!!!!!! People who manipulate other people!!! Fucking cunt bollocks! Sorry, please just let me rant. If I don't get it out of my system I'm likely to rip the head off a cunt and shove it down their throat fully fisted!!!!! GAHHHHHH!

Thank you.
