The ANGRY thread v2

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have a word next time I see him. Shit at asserting myself but it needs doing and it's affecting my housemates too :( Stupidly fucking forgetful but going to make extra effort to make sure stuff is locked up and whatnot. Le sigh. Plus side, only a month til I move to my new place and I have no intention of telling him where that will be, and have told everyone else I'm living with the same.

Wish I could do the padlock thing, that would be just dandy. Might just post a big sign saying 'FUCK OFF' on the door but then I do rather enjoy the company of basically everyone else I know that doesn't live here.

not angry, just can't be fucked to find the sad thread, sad that people seem to ignore texts, even when sent numerous times and tell people that they are going to text beforehand and are told there would be a reply but there is nothing of the sort, unreturned texts actually do belong here, they make me angry.

Now off to the snoo thread for some nice snoo about returned texts and calls.

<3 That is sad indeed! I endeavour to reply to all texts, if I think fuck off then "fuck off" shall be the reply! Ignoring is just that, ignorance.

Mate we told you the charity mugger girl wasn't interested, leave her alone now. ;)

I was so fucking angry for a short period of time earlier. I go back into my room after going for breakfast with the girl who made me the painting (see the snoo thread) and the bag and the painting inside it is gone. AWOL! The only person that has been in my room is the cleaner, so I go out and find her in the corridor and ask her where it is. She plays the 'I don't speak English game' and just keep shrugging so I tell her to follow me and try and describe with hand actions and pointing to where the painting was. She mumbles shit at me in Thai that I don't understand then marches off only to return a few minutes later with the painting. No idea what her game was, whether she was trying to nick it (would be obvious it was her) or she somehow thought a bag, with a painting and a CD in it, was to be thrown out. It's not like it was near the bin and she shouldn't be throwing stuff out anyway if she doesn't know what it is. Was fuming. I've been saving all the small change in a cup in my room that when I check out I leave for the cleaners, there's about a days wage in there. She's not fucking getting it anymore, I'll go find a homeless person and give it to them instead. If that had been chucked out or damaged I would have went fucking ballistic.

Really frustrated with my internet speed. Been horrendously slow since about Thursday. This is one of the only sites that loads straight away and has no problems. But the rest I frequent go at a snail's pace, and streaming anything is pretty much not possible or a complete bore because I have to wait for fucking years (youtube is now a chore). When I try and watch a film or a tv show - even it it seems to have buffered all the way - it will cut out after about 5 mins of viewing. FUCKING ARGHH.

Haven't stumbled upon any solutions and will probably call my provider tomorrow. It's damn annoying.

If your speed has declined out of the blue, then it's possibly an ISP issue, however, give this page a read through (if your connections allows it!).

Tweak MTU settings.

Angry at many a thing... Some of those manifold things maybe even justifiably so... Others are hopefully fleeting disappoinments in the grand scheme...

One thing I'm definitely annoyed? irritated? hmm... no... angry as a buggered bee about is the fuckin' council's new waste collection policy. What an utter arseache of immense proportions :!

Am, for the most part, agreeable to "green" policies... but policy on recycling is taking the fuckin' piss. Partly cos blanket recycling policies are borderline "green" at best... but (realistically) mainly cos whether to recycle and/or send to landfill my rubbish was once my decision (cos both options were catered for) whereas now I'm forced to find space for 6 - count 'em SIX - boxes and baggies instead. And if I don't sort the items to the required standard they're dumped back on me doorstep and either have to pay an insanely high fee to get 'em gone or wait up to a fortnight and hope I get it right next time :X

Last week's rubbish is still sat festering in me bathroom cos I got it "wrong" last week. This means I either have to sort and wash it "correctly" before this morning's collection or keep it. And given they only collect half the stuff one week and half the stuff the next I get to keep half for another week either way. Fuck that. Blazin' bonfire or moulderin' midden mid-cul-de-sac it is.

Also, fuck fuckin' Windows. Again. What the fuck is it with antivirus software and Windows?!? It's the only OS shite enough that AV software is more or less essential and the only one that makes it such an unbelievable arseache to get along with. Can you uninstall it? Ever? Does it really need to screw up any attempt to replace it? What the fuck actually is the point of it? Every time I replace one the next one finds a fucklload of stuff the last one didn't then refuses to remove it unless you pay for it. Even the supposedly free ones. And if they don't do that they just do shit all anyway. Bag o' shite. Bags and bags o' shite.

I'm fekin with you on the green collection Sham, but round my way they have the fekin cheek to have 3 bins, one for non recyclable waste, one for recycling stuff and another for green stuff (grass cutting etc. ) and we get alternate weeks on the recycle non recycle stuff. Like you I'm a supporter to the extent that when they moved to 2 weekly we asked for a larger recycle bin, which to be fair we got.

My issue is they don't collect glass FFS, bit quite the issue it was in the past granted;) but I end up having to drive about 4 miles to the nearest bottle bin, first that's not very green and second if I didn't have a car it would be impossible given the weight of glass. And my council tax is the best part pf £2K GRRR.

AV for windows mate, personally I'm leaving mine to Windows 7 at the mo, on the main desktop and the new laptop my uncle kindlt gave me at the weekend, the free stuff is a pain in the arse. There will now be hoards of people warning me about how unprotected I am and how the world will end today if I dot install some proper AV.

I've been using the internet since before you could get it at home, back in the days of Mosaic, I always use a separate Hard drive fro the OS and all my important data is on separate (now USB) drives, so if anything goes a bit squiffy I can just format and rebuild in no time and I never store stuff on the laptops as I can just share the drives across the network.

I have never lost a single file to a Virus / Worm / Trojan and the only hits I ever get are usually for keygens ;) I think the risk depends on your usage and basic lack of stupidity as I end up rebuilding at least a PC a month for friends or family sometimes due to Virus infection. If you don't download applications from unknown sources and your not stupid enough click on pop ups that say you have a virus etc etc etc, then IME your relatively safe. In the end if you have your important stuff backed up you can just format and reload the OS and your apps, or even image the thing if your really that bothered.

You can get pretty much any full version you like, Mr torrent is your friend as I'm sure you know, AVG is what I run on the last remaining XP machine in the house and it works fine (full version)

Ya, I know there are... alternative options for acquiring non-free AV software but finding one I can actually get on with enough to bother d/l a full version hasn't happened yet. Latest one is Comodo (for the next 30 days... and unto eternity interfering with any other AV I may choose to install cos they're all fuckin' indestructible to any attempt to uninstall 'em :|). Looks okay so far but has only been installed since midnight. Mostly mine seem to find a way to fuck up within a day or two of installation, won't update and appear to do sod all but sit there. Immovable. Forever.

I honestly have no fuckin' idea if I have iffiness afoot but everytime I install a new one it finds/claims to find shitloads of trojans and rootkits initially, may or may not claim to have removed them when asked to, then breaks as soon as I go online (I generally do the first scan offline). In the most recent case, it found ~1300 "issues" of which 3 it's calling trojans and won't do shit all about it unless I pay for it. Other than that it seems okay.

But honestly, does it really make a difference? Since I've had this lappy I've gone through about half a dozen AVs which between them have "discovered" maybe ~10000 "issues" and removed a confirmed total of one trojan between them. Yet me 'puter still soldiers on regardless. I really only use it for watching/listening to stuff (and torrenting said stuff, naturally) and browsing BL and not much else and all that works so need I worry at all? Seems not...

Windows 7 being used if it makes a jot of difference. Never recall having anything like as much of a fuckabout when I last used XP (but that was quite some time ago).

Recycling: Just put mine out. Very noisily due to annoyance level. Fuckin' stanking it was. Made a big tall tower out of 'em and hope it falls on the cunt's head.

PS: Recycling glass is a pisstake - takes more energy to recycle than make from scratch. I still have a large boxload outside now though.

Not sure if this is any use to you, what system are you running? on this windows laptop i've uninstalled the windows security and downloaded microsoft security essentials, its basically what you need, it does the job of any paid software, they just dont make it known, give it a try if ya want? ive been using it and haven't had any issues, it detects and removes everything :)

Edit: i just noticed yer on 7, thats what im on, just google 'microsoft security essentials' and dl it :)

Thanks for the reply, Fiend :)

However, MSE is one of the half-dozen or so AVs I've tried and it just seemed to do nowt or owt ever. Although, with hindsight and latter experience of other AVs, that may've been a Good Thing. The problem I had with it - and the reason for removing it - was that I definitely had some kinda infection (probably several) and MSE just couldn't/wouldn't find it. Uninstalled it and tried a different one and it cleared out loadsa stuff which greatly improved me lappy's performance and greatly decreased crashes, hanging/freezing and the like. Then decided it didn't need anymore updates (despite only being installed a day or two) and did sod all hence. Rinse/repeat with the other attempts at alternate AVs :\

Am actually thinking of reinstalling it purely cos it's the only one that's ever actually deigned to allow itself to be uninstalled without leaving stuff (fuckin' popups suggesting I register supposedly uninstalled software ftl :!:X:!) that fucks with any future installation of alternate AV software.

Humbug.

Have no fuckin' idea why I'm still faffin' wit' fuckin' Windoze when there are myriad alternatives and every single one pisses on this piece of shit OS from way above. Blinded by the legit licence key it seems :\

yeah im a predominate mac user but use windows for work, i know what you mean though, i still get norton popping up saying i have like 1900+ threats etc but i half think its just a marketing popup like ya say, they know you've used it before so maybe they try and scare ya into buying it again? who knows

Indeed. I'm fairly sure that most of the supposed "issues" are bullshit made up to freak you into shelling out £29.99 but am also aware that from time to time I definitely do have actual "issues" afoot and when I do every AV I try ignores it and starts acting all weird. Unless it's newly installed and running offline when it works fine and actually sorts (at least some) of the problems. Unless it just puts go-faster stripes on and stuff just works better for a bit out of spite.

Meh. Fuggit. As I said, for the most part I can still do the few things I tend to do and am long past caring about privacy and the like (obviously - am using Windows) so is more just a general irkedness at being scolded if I don't have an up-to-date AV and annoyed by them either way cos they appear to do sod all but cause minor irritation. Shall soldier on unless summat actually breaks. And if it does that'd be a perfect opportunity to wipe the fuckin' lot and start again with a less offensively shite OS.

I'm using Ubuntu now, and it works great - easy to use and all, so if windoze does eventually fuck up, I'd recommend that Shambles.
In the meantime, try these 3 things (easy to use and install, and only run when you want them to look for summat...

1. CCleaner - will clear out a load of temp files that might be slowing you down (will also clear cookies, so make sure you have saved your passwords for the sites you use, so you can log back in)

2. Malware Bytes - as the name suggests

3. Spybot Search & Destroy - ditto (just unclick the Tea Timer option, else it will run in the background all the time

Once you've ran all 3, I'd just go back to using Microsoft Security Essentials, and you should be ok - rinse and repeat if you get any more issues in the future...

Oh and if you're having problems installing or updating any of the above, it's likely there's some malware interfering with your shizz - let us know if that's the case
