The 2018 Trump Presidency thread

By most we aren't talking you know.. 70% most. Even a landslide election is still very nearly split down the middle if we weren't talking about an election.

Ok, I'll concede that the majority, a small majority but a majority nonetheless didn't vote for him. But I still think with a proportion that high there is still lots more room for blaming the general public than is actually being done in reality.

If society as a whole were more intelligent there are lots of problems we could solve. The slight majority that didn't vote for him, they'd have preferred a Clinton victory. and while I agree that would likely have been a lot better, it's still far far from ideal.

My point is that society deserves a lot of blame for a lot of things and I don't think their stupidity is recognized as much as it should be. It's no surprise of course given that it's society that would have to do that, but even smarter individuals say here on bluelight sometimes seem to overlook it when there's an easier target like trump.

I see trump as a symptom, not a cause. I'm not saying trump deserves no blame at all, you know how much I've ranted about the guy, for all our many wildly different political beliefs, trump is something we both greatly agree is terrible. I'm not saying anyone should go easier on him. Just that it seems like sometimes people get so caught up hating him that they forget what brought him to us, and it's the latter that will continue this problem after he's finally gone.

The problem is both choices sucked, and those choices came out of the primaries, it's all still a reflection of the public. And that's what I'm really getting at. Our leadership gives us what they think we will respond to, what they think will get enough people to vote for them.

And that's on us.

There's a good episode about Trump on a show called "Dirty Money", on Netflix. Trump's dealings in NYC, Atlantic City, internationally & "Trump University" are detailed. Definitely check it out if you are so inclined.

I never paid him any attention until 2015. I dunno if his private life before politics is relevant to me. As long as the economy booms and the Kim regime is erased, he will have met his mission in my eyes. 4 years could be plenty.

Correct, the "good ones today" have absolutely nothing to do with trump.

Was just saying the stock market has grown huge over 30 years disqualifing a previous poster who claimed the stock market is a bad investment. Diversified invesrtors are riding high. My fathers investments from the late 80s are very happy.

Yes, hello again. I'm sure you are enjoying your daddy's labor. I hope he invested in more than the stock market, for diversity reasons.

Trump won't replace him or his time of living. Good luck!
