THCA and THC combined?f

Hi , so wondering , at a dispensary if , say some flower says for example THCA 15% and THC 15% , is this a total potency of 30%? I mean are the 2 combined ? Or would it still be 15% potency as a whole? Makes a big difference generally . thanks

do they actually state that? sounds like a marketing trick to me

afaik 'raw' buds only contain thcA and not thc until heated (thcA being a prodrug for thc... EDIT no it isn't,)

although I could be mistaken - tbh I only heard of thcA five after I'd already been smoking for 30 Years!

THCA isn't a prodrug because it isn't converted by the body but rather heat

it also degrades into THC over time

it is possible for a flower to contain both but raw flower usually contains far more THCA than THC

however if the potency was measured using gas chromatography this can change how much THC is detected because it heats the sample

all that to say is that it's normal and if both are listed they are additive but THC is something like 80% of the mass of THCA so there is a bit of math to be done to find out the ending THC %

so it's a scammy marketing ting?
 
Yea , they changed their listing recently and started showing THCA and THC levels , so i wasn't sure , but i think from what i been reading it is the THC level that is the potency as a whole. Where the THCA being shown is like a reference , which after burning , ends up being the THC level.
 
At our dispensary we have some weed that is *admittedly* sprinkled with THC/A --- its like 15 bucks more a half though and I suspect it is mid weed with a ton of THC/a tossed on it.

As I had never thought of doing anything similar... lol

when I worked in the industry I watched moonrocks get made with lower quality flower and concentrate they needed to get rid of so I wouldn't be surprised
 
^Knew it. Thought of selling THC/A on the low but now live resin is cheaper where I live than I could get THC/A IN BULK. I do not get it but I am reaping the benefits.

Was it you who accurately predicted about a two week lifespan on the 'lookah seahorse' (I think nectar collecter they are called but idk) "Freebasing tool" lol small arc welding torch --- Made it through 15g of live resin before the tip broke -- which feels reasonable if I can get replacements. (If I gotta order em online its a bit of a pain in the ass I don't trust my CC online lol)
 
haha same here I was looking into an E-nail as I am just wasting hash and burning myself often. I asked if they had an e-nail at the local headshop and they pointed me to that thing --- my 10g of hash lasted 3 1/2 weeks instead of 1!!

If you smoke concentrate (NO brand loyalty, mine broke and was predicted to) but it is really worth getting one...... Idk if I wanted to invent the perfect foily smoking machine that is what I woulda came up with.

Just the tip heats up but there is an ultra small hole (Paperclip was to fat to get in the hole) that than opens up to a glass tube. (actually I think its plastic tube, cheap lol). 50 bucks is cheaper than an E-nail though and I can't go back to torching my hash.

I think I have bad technique though as other ppl tell me they get more out of the torch. (Seems unfathomable but idk)
 
You do "hot hits" or "cold hits" --- heat the bowl up before you drop the hash in or after?

If I do before I get a good hit but waste a bunch

if I heat it after I tend to get several half ass hits that never quite hit the spot.....

Pretty sure I have tried everything but I am definitely messing something up based on how much longer it lasted with that thing

i had some pretty good weed that was a preroll with powder thca mixed up in it...

i can't speak to the quality of the flower itself compared to other flowers of the same strain, but i do like the strain ok (ghost train haze) and this preroll tasted fine. actually iirc i unrolled it and put it in a bong, but that's usually what i do with prerolls.

i honestly didn't think the thca was necessary... i kinda just got really really high for thirty minutes, but it felt like i just hit a moderately high ceiling and then fell asleep... i would rather have had a better strain with less thc. kinda over the sales pitch of high thc + high terps = better quality...

imo, strain choice is 90% of it.
