THC extraction from resin

My cat had an idea after cleaning his bowl and flushing the resin about a possible thc extraction. He couldn't find anyone online whose tried it, but would one be able to get some decent product by putting resin chunks in a coffee filter, and slowly dripping rubbing alcohol through it and letting it evaporate? Or would the tar just slowly leak through?
