Isn't it church custom to do the whip round thingy at the end of services/funerals/weddings?

Also, considering the stately guest list, they probably could've paid for this whole circus by rattling the churchplate rather firmly instead of us lot paying for it

You don't even work. Do tell how you are paying for anything, let alone the 16p for this event? The majority of enraged tax payers in this thread seem to be unemployed.

You do realise that the majority of the extra cost is nothing to do with me, but to do with your type pushing the costs of security up, don't you? If you didn't want my funeral to be that expensive you could have had basic decency and respect, but this is the price everyone must pay because you lack that.

I'm driving round in a van with the Queen's crown on the side. (I'm sat at home with a coffee and a spliff tbh but I'm about to get back in me van)

Whatever it costs, it should be fuck all to do with us, whether we work or not.

Why the hell is the auld cunt getting a state funeral (or very near approximation of one anyway) in the first place? There's absolutely no need for it nor any real desire for it amongst the populace. Families pay for funerals. Not victims.

That aside, this gem of a quote from the Heil did raise a smirk...

I liked the church bells as they went down Fleet St (I think), BOM... bom... BOM... bom... BOM... bom... quite nice. Worth the price we've paid.

It is standard for most former PM's to get a state funeral. Even high up people in the armed forces get them. The reason this one costs about 5x as much as any other is precisely because of idiots 'protesting' pushing up the costs. Plenty of people like me, you just don't associate with them.
