Thatcher's dead

The Welfare State was created because if it hadn't been there would have been a fucking riot, maybe a revolution.

Anyway Thatchers dead. She lived in the Ritz since Christmas, the BBC 'man' said it was were she could get the best care. Took me by surprise that it was the best place.

I know that, and I never did claim otherwise. This is why I can't understand why there has been such a horrific argument over it. How many times have I said she made hundreds of thousands suffer?

I said Churchill arguably started it off before Labour, who many think started it, were even in power. And THEN conceeded even before then the Liberals were pushing it. SHM cant understand Churchill changed parties from Liberal to Conservative, and had dual philsophies on it. Which is why he is never remembered for it.

He loved war.
He hated heavy judgement on petty crime (much like we get now with drug laws, he hated that).
He wanted to look after the poor
He didn't want to raise taxes on the rich

He was a mixed bag. Never claimed otherwise. Not the white knight that Clement was, but those are the facts. SHM can't accept this.

Oh fuck off. Nowhere in the world will you find Churchill talking positively about socialism. He specifically, carefully, said he didn't see the Labour creation of the infrastructure of what we now call the welfare state as socialist. Before the war he supported reforms as a way of buying off prospective Labour voters. Afterwards he did the same thing as a weapon to help him be elected having been kicked out by the working class returning home from war.

Fuck you and your co-op job. Churchill the MASSIVE socialist? Come on, dig me a reference. You can't. You're a fucking disgrace to academia. And yes, I've got my degree in it too thanks you prick.

And yet he kept the NHS and everything Labour implemented after he was re-elected. You have such a black and white view of it its unreal. Should have read my above comment before you typed this load of shit out. Churchill was a mixed bag but he wanted to look after the poor and considered major socialist reforms. Then he got dumped. Then he got relected and pushed what Labour had achieved even further.

If you genuinely had a degree in it, you would know this. Your ignorance is unbearable.
 
In two minds about thatcher, good points and bad, people celebrating and banging on about how glad they are that shes dead as if she was some sort of female Hitler who just died is a bit much though aint it

Just cos you remember a few bits about the beginning of the welfare state from a book you've read doesn't mean you have to introduce it here.

But crowing on about how Churchill was some sort of man of the people, a socialist even, is not only wrong, it's irrelevant.

God you're thick. So you think dismantling years of negotiations between government and health professionals, crucially doctors, with all the bargaining and dealing involved, was a likely outcome for a Prime Minister who had bought his way into power on the back of its existence?

Well knock the service being above part is good to know, but the best place for a dying person struck me as odd. Hey ho guess I will have to stay.

We can agree that Thatcher didn't created the Welfare State, so what we've being discussing is pointless I guess.

She really fucked Wales, the Northern mining communities. I don't know weather the pits were economic or not. But surely it was good to have masses of people in work? Rather than sitting around doing nothing. After all they did put the money back into the economy spending their wages.

But I don't know the 'maths' just seems a tragedy to ruin so many life's. :\
