Illegal drug smuggling along the Mekong River is growing rapidly with "mules" wearing special shoes and swimmers who carry guns and bombs.

Along the natural border between Thailand and Laos the US Drug Enforcement Administration is now engaged on a new battlefront to stem the flow of illegal substances. The US DEA has been working in Thailand for years to counter the upsurge in drugs _ especially methamphetamine, ice (crystal methamphetamine) and cannabis _ smuggled into America from certain Asian nations through Thailand, concentrating mainly along the Burmese border and the Golden Triangle.

It's a difficult and dangerous task as these traffickers would rather die than be arrested.

"They no longer carry only a gun but also a bomb. They are well aware that they face the death sentence if arrested, so they may think they have nothing to lose by clashing with the Thai authorities," said Pol Lt Col Sanya.

And wtf are they talking about smuggling weed from Thailand to here? Has anyone seen a fuckin Thai Stick in the last 30 years??? And our hydro shit is so tits in the US and Canada we have no need to import bullshit like that.. And how can you mention The Golden Triangle in an article and completely neglect heroin?? (Score one for Afghanistan I guess, they got a monopoly on that shit)

Cause its all bullshit propaganda. No one is smuggling crystal meth and marijuana from Thailand to here, theres no point when it can be produced here much cheaper and with much less of a risk. Its all heroin. The U.S. DEA is involved because they are pissed they dont have control over the heroin coming from Thailand into the states so they want to get a say in it and stop it from cutting into their profits.
