Testing for ephedrine?

I understand that marquis reagent will not test for ephedrine.
Is there any test which I can do to determine if its is present in an odd batch of coke.
I tested some of the coke powder, which dissolved but did not change colour.
I'm trying to work out weather this coke is cut with a speed like substance or weather it is just incredibly pure

According to Phreex' info in the faq, ephedrine should turn yellow/brown.

hmm...I had to use a Ripped Fuel pill, the only ephedra product I had around. Unfortunately, the powder is already pretty brown. The reagent did seem to turn brown, but I can't say for sure if that was just the liquid taking on the color of the powder.
 
From searching this forum the other day most people agreed ephedrine does not change colour with the marquis and the reports for pills on dancesafe that say the pill contained just ephedrine say the marquis had no colour reaction.
 
Ahh, the search function, I should have known better. It looks from there like I should have gotten an actual reaction from the Ripped Fuel (ephedrine) versus no reaction had I used a product containing pseudoephedrine.
 
From just ephedrine you should get an orange reaction (no I haven't seen this myself) but psudoephedrine will definantly give no reaction.
 
thats what confused me, I tested a pusdephed tablet by cracking it open and testing the powder in side.
No reaction, so I thought this would hold true to ephedrine.
I tested a larger amount of the coke last night and there was a yellowy/orange tinge and the reaction bubbled quite a bit.
 
now it time to work out how to extract the coke and leave me with something that dosn't feel like it's about to kill me.
 
It seems weird to me for coke to be cut with ephedrine - pseudo makes sense, but isn't Ma Huang extract brown? Is there a white form of ephedrine?

i too have tested ephedrine - it turned an orangey colour (slowly) and fizzed.
 
ephedrine is in fact white, but judging by the effects you're describing it was NOT ephedrine... ephedrine can do evil things to your heart but you'd need a few hundred milligrams of pure ephedrine to get that effect.
if you got a slightly yellow/orange reaction you probably have coke with some amount of meth added. or maybe it's just amphetamine (depends on where you are, really), since (racemic) amphetamine can potentially do more to your heart than meth.

The Ephedrine i tested (that turned the regeant an orangey) was purchased from a pharmacy earlier that day as pure ephedrine.
