Heroin terrifying reaction to heroin

I hope someone here can help me. When I IV H I seem to get panic attacks. I'll start nodding off and suddenly I start feeling scared, I pace frantically and I'm convinced something bad is going to happen. My friend who uses with me will get high on the same batch with no problems, no panic. The attack never lasts more than 10 mins. Can someone please help me understand. Once the attack is over, I can go back to enjoying my high. I would also like to mention that I've always had struggles with anxiety and that I only use sporadically, my tolerance isn't high. I also know for sure that the dope isn't cut with uppers. Thanks
 
Could be a mindset problem. If you are starting the shot with a feeling of anxiety, it could very well exacerbate the issue of the come up. Maybe try to reach a calm and relaxed state before diving in. I've never IV'd, but have had similar experiences with other substances due to a preceding anxiety over their use.

Just sounds like a reaction you have to heroin...although, to me it sounds like something that more commonly happens with IV cocaine, which if heroin does that to you, I would avoid cocaine and amphetamines like the plague! Do you have an underlying fear of overdosing? I really don't know what to tell you...Seek counseling to overcome your fear of heroin? ;)
 
You're just anxious, either get over it or stop doing it. No real solution here, either "nut up or shut up" as they say...

P.S. Not meant as an insult.
 
Sounds like you're just bugging yourself out. Because you don't do it often, you probably have a strong fear, subconscious or not, that you're going to OD.. so then you just freak out.

You have to just relax.. do smaller doses.
