Misc Tenuate and Tramadol - no-go?

Long time since posting, but hey! Here we go.

I am currently taking Tramadol (around 400mg a day).
I used to mix them with modafinil at times, which worked great, but I don't have access to those anymore.

I have now gotten my filthy fingers on some Tenuate (diethylpropion, Regenon), a diet drug with very few side effects (compared to phentermine, at least).

From my research, I haven't found any big warning signals mixing the two, but we all know that Tramadol is a hell of a drug, and can kill if you mix it with the wrong stuff. So I thought I'd ask you people in here.

So, anyone try Tenuate with Tramadol? Which dosage? Not going for a high here, simply a booster....

I take Klonopin (benzo/anti-seizure drug), so I am not concerned about seizures, it's the serotonergic issues that I am worried about.

Tenuate (which has the awesome chemical name Amfepramone) is a weak serotonergic/dopaminergic agent. It works via nor-epinephrine (I think it's classified as an NRA).

So I am inclined to believe that small doses would be okay - but again, safety first, so please: share your opinion....

unless you can find a reliable interaction checker online that you trust, the best thing is to first try and ask your doctor of your concerns. failing that ask your local pharmacist or ring one.

I finally found some reliable info on tramadol/tenuate interactions. 7 cases all in all - not much, but enough for me to take the plunge and have a go at it.

I took 200mg slow-release Tramadol in the morning, waited half a day, then popped the lowest dose of Tenuate (25mg). No seizures, no serotonine overloads so far. Of course, I had taken my Klonopin and had an actual nurse over to look out for me...But the effects are very manageable, so far.

Alone now, though - I don't know how much I should describe this, I seem to remember you have a trip report forum for that, but all in all, a pleasant combination - Tenuate is less speedy than modafinil (at this dosage, anyway), so I will try upping the dose next time.

Another thing: I kick myself for calling this thread "Tenuate and Tramadol" - nobody knows what Tenuate is, should have used the chemical name, Amfepramone - that would have people flocking to this thread!).

Update: Tenuate packs a punch! I took 4 25mg pills in a 24-hour period, and it works perfectly as a booster to the tramadol.

However, I would still like to hear about other people using Tenuate - couldn't find any trip reports on it, so please share!

are you using the tenuate for its medicinal use or as an alternate type stimulant? if the latter you might want to look into any possible repercussions.

nice to hear its working for you, just hope theres no contraindications that come round to bite you in the ass.

No, I am not using it as an anorexic, but as a booster to the stimulus I get from Tramadol.

As mentioned, it sounds a lot safer than Phentermine, and there was no comedown at all. Of course, that doesn't mean that it won't kill me next time, ya never know!

But since I am sticking to the lowest possible dose, I will continue experimenting with it. Tomorrow I will try the same dosage to see if the second time is as good as the first.....
