What happens if I try to stay up on temazepam?
I am sober 7months and I take it once a week maybe. I lay down close my eyes but I noticed I feel super good right before I fall asleep. Like I get warm and fuzzy and just feel a inner good. I know its the drug. I feel good anyway before I fall asleep almost high (I don't know why) I am 7months sober and on suboxon but never before in my life would I feel high and so good right before sleep. When I add the temazepam I feel even better, like super good. So I was wondering if I tried to stay awake? could I? Would I feel good for awhile? Would it be like being high? Could I zone out watch tv or read a book or what? Is it like amb would I forget things or possible do something dumb.

Im not looking to relapse I only take this drug once a week at most. I just noticed that I felt a rush almost right before i fall asleep and it would be cool if I could pop it and feel that rush for a hour or two then go to sleep. Or would it ruin my sleep to fight it? Im not sure I wrote this question badly. Any ideas thoughts? Im not looking to take more of it or double dose or ruin its ability to put me to sleep because I do use it as I am prescribed it I just want to enjoy a good feeling as long as I can. I just have not tried to stay up out of fear I might do something and forget it like on amb.

Temazepam is one of the more hypnotic benzodiazpines. The buzz you feel right before you fall asleep is indeed a buzz. If you stay awake, you will certainly feel it.

Be careful, especially if you're a recovering addict, as they are addictive and benzo addiction is not pleasant at all. Certainly a path I would not wish to walk again. If you're particularly susceptible to retrograde amnesia (forgetting shit) on ambien, you will find temazepam has a very similar effect.

If you keep the dose low, stick to only taking it once a week or so for sleeping reasons, and of course get in bed right after you take it, I don't see why you can't fight it a little and enjoy yourself before drifting off to sleep.

You can google 'temazepam' for more reading, I recommend the wikipedia article as a good place to start. You can also use the Bluelight search engine as there is plenty of reading on this site as well.

A slippery slope

I have experienced this warm and fuzzy feeling before. After about a year of suboxone therapy back maybe 5 years ago. I think it was with xanax for sleep. I dont remember honestly if it was prescribed or not. I took it, watching tv or something the last few minutes before I fel asleep I remember thinking "wow I feel cool" and having the same thought you posted. Something along the lines of "If I force myself to stay up, I will feel this for longer, and enjoy it" It wasn't long before I started using benzos every night and panicking when I couldn't both smoke weed and take a xanax or some klonipin. I always have believed the buzz I got in the beginning of benzo use was a replacement of sorts for the pills I used to take before suboxone basically leveled me out.

Apart from my warning, yes, for a while, at ever-increasing doses, Temazepam will make you feel euphoric if you stay up, but if you stay up too long, you will be basically asleep.

It doesn't take long to aquire a mental dependancy on benzos for sleep, as it is something easy to justify and something basically good, and healthy. We all like good sleep. Have fun and be careful.

im not worried about getting addicted I take 1 a week and my doctor is very aware of my past. I just worry I might forget shit and yea I have had bad bad accidents with ambiem. If it can happen with tamazapam I will just stick to taking it like I should. I just wonder like if I keep my eyes open but stay in bed will I drift off to sleep or is that fighting sleep? I don't know where to draw the line. As is I close my eyes and try to think of nothing at all so I fall alseep fast. If I lets say just watch tv while in bed will I just feel good longer then drift off or do I run the risk of getting up on auto pilot and doing something dumb. I can't risk that you see. not here at least.

Temezepam is just a hypnotic benzo, not a z-class drug.....You will not "trip" out on it if you stay awake as can be the case with ambien for some people, you will just feel somewhat sedated and relaxed. Now of course if you take too high of a dose and/or drink on it you may experience amnesia.

^ this.

Sometimes benzos cause people to lose their inhibitions or their judgement becomes impaired, and sometimes they can cause amnesia, but with a single dose of temazepam chances are you will just feel sedated (and possibly feel pretty good, depending on whether you find benzos recreational or not) and then later on you will go to sleep. No autopilot and doing dumb stuff (I can't promise this 100% of course, I can just say what is likely!)

I think you should heed Oxide's warning - as a recovering addict, the last thing you want to do is to start finding your night sedation recreational. A benzodiazepine addiction can sneak up on you but is very difficult to beat, and the WDs are unpleasant, prolonged and can be dangerous. Crossing the line from using your medication as directed and staying up to catch a buzz is pretty risky imo!

Finally we don't really do "can I get high off x" questions, although we are hapy to discuss the dangers of getting high off x :)

Closed as I think this has been answered. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you have any questions :)
