Temazepam - Naive Dosage/Tolerance Question.

Hey everyone.

Recently my doctor prescribed me Temazepam (10mg) as a sleep aid and for panic attacks, as I get them frequently. Although I have never actually been prescribed them officially, I've had somewhere to maybe 30 or so total in my life. Having said that, you would probably agree that I should have no tolerance. I did however find that I could always handle a lot more Benzo's than my friends of the same experience could, so I told my doctor that I was worried these may not work as I am "really hard to make drowsy", using the fact I could down 3-5 Panadeine Forte on an empty stomach (with no tolerance) and still be kicking.

Well, I literally ate my entire pack of 25 in a couple of days. I was told to have 1 at night to sleep, but I find I can't even feel one, and I end up chewing about 5-7 at once and waiting an hour or two before I can lay down and slowly fall asleep.

Does this make sense? Before now I haven't taken Temazepam for probably almost 12 months, and Xanax for 6+ months (and only a couple times in like 4mg doses or so with a heap of alcohol).

I'm going to try and get something much stronger tomorrow, but I'm worried I'll be stuck with weak Benzo's that wont help me. Would it be wise to tell the doctor how many of these I actually need to efficiently get to sleep?

Well, as I'm awake still, and I'm bored, I felt like jotting my thoughts down to you all. So tell me what you think.

30 mg for someone who isn't tolerant to benzos is more than enough to have you floored, but are you looking for something stronger, as in something more sedating than temazepam?

Out of the all the hypnotics I've done (i've done triazolam, flunitrazepam, nitrazepam, flurazepam, estazolam, midazolam, and of course temazepam). Out of all the ones I've tried, the only ones that were more sedative were triazolam and nitrazepam. The midazolam I did orally, and I think I took a smaller dose then I should have and I was thoroughly disappointed with it.

But there are other very powerful hypnotics out there that may be available in your country - lormetazepam, loprazolam, brotizolam, nimetazepam and flutoprazepam (the last 2 is if you live in Japan).

I would tell him as honestly as i could what the situation is and if he/she is not willing to help you i would find another doctor. 10 mg temazepam is absolutely NOTHING and i would be really suprised if ANYONE went asleep on that...

30mg of Temazepam barely does anything but relax me a bit. About as much a cone used to. I guess I have a slight tolerance already, which is probably not a good thing. I am looking for something both more sedating than Temazepam for sleep, but also better for Anxiety/Panic attacks. I doubt I'll get a double Benzo prescription. Thank you for the info about your experiences with the difference Benzo's.

I wouldn't get branded as a 'drug seeker' for telling the truth, would I? I can't imagine this would impress the doctor, who doesn't have any history with me. I mean, he did say take one, and if I say I take 5+, he'll probably think I'm irresponsible and can't be trusted. 10mg does nothing though, and I'm chewing them and dissolving them in my saliva for a bit of a boosted effect even. All's I know is I still lay there until 3:00+ in the morning, which to me isn't a solved issue.

Did everything get resolved?????? Did he end up actually giving you a 30mg script of temazepam or a more sedating benzo?? I find Valium is more sedating than temazepam, and lasts a bit longer.. That probably would've been your best bet. Please update.

I'm assuming your doctor didn't give you the Temazepam to be taken "during the day" for panic attacks, as its a hypnotic and while it does have some anti-panic properties, there are much more effective benzodiazepines to take for this reason. Temazepam is only supposed to be prescribed for sleep, not anxiety or panic attacks. The only non-hypnotic benzodiazepine that I find more sedating is diazepam (Valium). Triazolam and Midazolam are both more sedating. If you are looking to get fucked up or feel sedated and it takes you 4mg of Xanax, with alcohol, to get there I'd recommend 60-90mg.

Well, I am sort of off abusing Benzo's at the moment, and finding I can cope with sleep/anxiety without them (mostly). I use weed to sleep now, as I always did. It works wonders, and when/if I get nervous, I take 1/4-1/2 of a 5mg Diazepam (Valium). I tried changing Benzo's, and got my dose reduced, as apparently the other non-Alprazolam benzo's (but including it) are too addictive. I haven't bothered to try to get my dose upped again (for excess supply), but I guess I will in time. A little white lie never hurt anyone. Fuck it, I'm studying full-time now as well, Chemistry and English, so I deserve to be able to have access to 'treats'.

I sort-of answered you with my last response. But basically, no Temazepam (or any of the lesser sedating Benzo's) for me. Doesn't matter though, I'll settle with that for now. Thank you for the input anyway... And I know very well of Xanax haha. I've hit the 'by the handful' stages before. Weirdly enough, I have little urge to take any Benzo or consume Alcohol lately. Exactly the opposite of what one would expect from abusing Xanax, right? I guess everything works out for the best.

For me Flunitrazepam (one 4mg dose) is excellent for sleep (i get maybe 3 nights great sleep from that one dose) and completely kills my anxiety for up to 72 hours.

Wow, sounds great! Is it easy to get prescribed or no? That with Triazolam is one of the few benzos I haven't had the chance to sample.

Another thing to think about is this: Etizolam. It is the BEST benzo to abuse on the market. It is LEGAL in the USA and be EASILY found on the internet. (Some sources are cheaper than others, and if you find the main source you can get 100 for a VERY cheap price (won't put the price as I think that's against the rules?) It is the most EUPHORIC benzo EVER (and I have a HIGH benzo tolerance and have tried most benzos in very high doses), but even with all my benzo experience, Etizolam threw me for a loop! If I had to compare alcohol to a benzo, I'd call Xanax(Alprazolam) a non-nauseating, more clear headed alcohol.. Now if I can make a fitting analogy... I'd call Etizolam a non-nauseating, more clear headed GHB/GBL. NO JOKE. It SURPRISED ME SO MUCH with how significant the euphoria is.

While it isn't very hypnotic (which may or may not be good) It is the BEST anxiolytic (anti-anxiety)I have EVER encountered. It makes Clonazepam look wimpy as a Anxiolytic! Be careful with the dosage! While it's supposed to be around 1/2-2/3 the potency of xanax, I actually found it was more. But I have a theory about this. I have a HIGH tolerance for benzos (Can take 10mg of Clonazepam when I am having an exceptionally bad day, and not even be tired, but I find my tolerance rises and falls with my anxiety, but I need at LEAST 4mg of Klonopin to feel anything that reduces anxiety at the lowest level of anxiety I get!) But Etizolam isn't technically a benzo, it is actually a thienodiazepine (thienobenzodiazepine) analog of benzodiazepine. I am thinking that benzos and thienbenzos aren't fully cross tolerant like most benzos are to each other (if you have a very high tolerance for xanax, you basically have a very high tolerance for Klonopin) I think this isn't the case with etizolam and benzos. Cause I felt 1mg pretty well! And I made a mistake of taking 8 of them cause I assumed I had a high tolerance because of my benzo tolerance! Bad idea! I don't remember anything, and my mom tells me I was acting like looney tunes..
Just something to think about..

Ive tried Etizolam and unfortunately it didnt do the trick for me.

No way should you tell your doctor that you are popping 5 to 7 if these just to get some sleep. Imo, he will think you are seeking drugs & just wanna get high. Just tell him they arent helping & you are wondering if you need something stronger.

Damn tough spot you're in, I really dont have any sound advice to give you actually.

No, you won't get prescribed flunitrazepam in the U.S. as it has been banned. Flunitrazepam is Rohypnol (roffies).

Triazolam is "alright" but I much prefer Temazepam. It hits you much quicker but doesn't last nearly as long. It isn't really a recreational benzodiazepine IMO.
