Benzos Temazepam dosage - less is more?

I'm prescribed the clonazepam for anxiety, I use it as a very last resort not wanting to become dependent on them, already being heavily dependent on opiates for pain management (presribed 280mg oxycodone a day, 3 80's 4 10's, and have trouble staying within prescribed amount still, always running out early and having to "supplement") so a poly-drug addiction isn't something I'm real interested in picking up ya know. Same with temazepam, use rarely as prescribed, even more rare recreationally. Benzo buzz just isn't my thing but I my opiates. Mmmm...

Yeah I am the same way. I always am on buprenorphine when I take benzos, so there is some synergism there. However I am also taking a matter of < 1mg of buprenorphine per day. So it's both low dose.

the feeling was lush... lush enough for me to fall asleep while my girlfriend was here around 4-5pm (unless i don't remember her leaving?), wake up at freaking 2am in the morning thinking what the hell where'd my day go

maybe i shoulda take less than 5mg for my reuinion dose (1.5mg is normal daily dose, required ~>5mg for a buzz)

well a week off did seem to reduce my tolerance. hopefully i didn't rocket it back up with my "reunion". in any case it feels to be able to relax my body and just chill and not feel like i'm on too much meth and be nonfunctional with anxiety

I had a pretty hardcore addiction to benzos (mainly xanax and klonopin), which I overcame last winter (January of 2009). Now, over a YEAR later, I will dabble with benzos maybe a couple times a month and I still need at least 4 mg of klonopin to catch a buzz. Benzo tolerance is a bitch.

Temazepam is balls for sleep as I wake up in the middle of the night feeling that it has worn off. Now for recreation I had access to my girl's 30mg a day script she never took. I found that taking around 45-60 mg was the best and that anymore really didnt have any more pleasurable effects or duration, but a more realizable withdraw when you come down. After any amount of extended time (+3 weeks) these become useless in my opinion.

for someone with no tolerance or very little tolerance 15 mg - 30 mg is more than enough for a very good buzz.

for those with moderate to high tolerance, 45-90 mgs will usually "hit the spot".

I have a huge benzo tolerance, and i can catch a decent buzz from 30 mgs.
but 60-90 mgs usually gets me exactly where i want to be -- a moderately euphoric and very beautiful anxiety free, blissfully sedated, super relaxed, and just totally and completely carefree state.

anything above 100 mgs and the sedation is too intense and fighting to stay awake becomes near impossible and i usually end up blacking out.

I blacked out at 15mg, had no conscious memory of the night past taking the second 7.5mg capsule (still tripping balls, I had taken LSD about 12 to 18 hours prior, and was awake for 2 days prior to dosing).

So what dose may be "a good buzz" to one person may put the next unconscious. It's important to note that you want to start small with temazepam and work your way up, if you have obligations (driving, talking to authorities/parents/anyone important to you, interacting with friends, etc) and you take a large dose for the first time, it may turned out really F'd up. I only consume benzos when I am alone, or if I'm having severe anxiety among other people. I don't ever consume benzos for a recreational effect among others (I will only do it around close friends who are 100% cool with everything).

Amnesia is common with high dose temazepam from what I've heard.

Benzo black outs are more pleasant when they're not combined with alcohol. They are a lot more common when you drink though but they are most certainly less pleasant due to a nasty hangover.

Amnesia/blacking out is more common with certain hypnotics (temazepam, midazolam and loprazolam, triazolam and alprazolam, etc) especially in high doses.

It's interesting that happened to you on clonazepam. Sounds like your use of benzos wasn't too "extreme" to get close to perma-tolerance.

Rofl, 5mg is a large dose, I can't take clonazepam but if I could I would aim ~ 0.5mg to 1mg at the most.

Yeah if you are careful with dosing hopefully you didn't get your tolerance too high again, if I only take 2 days off from temazepam, I only get 1 more day of 0 tolerance really. Every other/every third day dosing with temazepam is more ideal for me personally. I have taken it daily for at least 3-5 days in a row and it's not too bad that way either, I just prefer not to overdo it.

Temazepam is an intermediate duration benzo, you might do better on a longer lasting benzodiazepine like Diazepam or Flurazepam. Those are the longest lasting benzos I can think of that are common for sleep.

I don't like coming down from temazepam either for some reason. Flurazepam has a pleasant after glow, and most other benzos don't phase me when I stop using them (midazolam, alprazolam, diazepam, etc) but temazepam is maddening, it's like why not take it, especially if you are needing sleep or are anxious. However it's a good reason not to take it when you want to preserve the medicinal effects of a medication for yourself.

It can be kind of difficult to realize "if I really need this, then I can't rely on it every day, as much as I may think/know I could use it daily", but it works out in the long run.

I like to utilize antihistamines as well as benzodiazepines for sleep, so that I have multiple choices, and am not limited to only temazepam, for instance.

You guys are crazy that are saying you care getting nice buzzes off 20mgs and 30mgs or even 60mgs! I have been prescribed 30mg Temazepam capsules on/off for the past 4-5 years and I honestly think they are the LEAST enjoyable benzo out there, maybe its b/c of the way I take them? I only take them for insomnia as they work great for knocking me out, but sometimes I'll take 120-150mgs at once of Temazepam and I still don't get a euphoric buzz...maybe if I were to just take like 60-90mgs with a couple drinks of Scotch??

I've never tried less than 30mg since that's what my doc started me at but that first night taking it on an empty stomach was incredible, it seriously felt as euphoric as hydro/oxycodone to me. I wish I could of enjoyed it longer though but I passed out 1.5-2 hours into it. Since then I've tried 60mg once and it didn't really feel much different than 30mg.

benzo tolerance envy

i wish i had never overdone it with the benzos this last few months.

im jealous of all you lot with your sensible tolerance levels.

how long until i begin to get my tolerance levels back to 'sensible' levels again.

ive been a once a week user for the past 5-6 months,started off binging on about 20 tabs,then this recently escalated to over 100 tabs a weekend.

I can relate so hardcore. I've always noticed that on blueligjht everyone seems to get high off tiny doses. I have to take about twenty mg klon to get a really good high and that's my fave benzo. I get prescribed 30 30mg capsules a month and I am not bragging, but I only get two highs out of it. Really sucks. I guess that's what happens when you've been abusing benzos for almost fifteen years. downregulation I am guessing. What I wouldn't do to feel high off a 30 mg cap of temaz. What do I do when all of my bz receptors are finally gone? Do i get psychosis? Damn illuminati big Parma drug pushers (psychiatrists) ruined my life slowly like a cancer. But the problem is if they take me off it would be a nightmare. pfff dammit

btw, I've read in several places that temazepam is the only benzo completely cross tolerant with barbs. They can actually substitute for one and other. Does anyone know why this might be? barbs don't activate bz receptors correct? So i don't understand what makes temazepam so different than other benzos. I realize it is a hypnotic but so are many benzo.

^Few prescribed benzodiazepines are actually hypnotics. The only other one that comes to mind is triazolam.

They both work on GABA, that's about the best I can give you. All GABAergics are somewhat corss-tolerant. One other piece of potentially pertinent info. is that hypnotics are easier to overdose on - so watch out.

You really shouldn't be on temazepam then. Why not ask for some addiction help? Just looking out for you, bud. If you work through it, they'll give you some diazepam or librium, and take it as prescribed, you can get through this.
