cant find any info anywhere. Can any one comment on the interaction between Temazepam and Doxylamine Succinate?

peace

Cant comment on specific interactions, but my wife is perscribed temazapam and the dr told her to use "restavit" (doxylamine succinate) when she is really struggling to sleep so i can only assume it has no contridictions.

I am also unaware if there is any potential interaction but I know that I have used these two drugs together without a problem on numerous occassions. Obviously sedation is going to be increased somewhat but benzo's are pretty safe and I can't imagine an OTC sleep-aid like Restavit inducing too much respiratory depression. Since temazepam is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for sleeping and restavit seems to be the most common OTC sleep-aid in the country it would seem if there was a serious interaction between the two a doctor would be likely to warn their patients of it.

was on meth too so was overthinking things. all was well and sleep was swell. The two actually work amazingly together.

That's a very unsafe thing to assume. Doxylamine is contraindicated with potassium supplements as it's anti-cholinergic properties increase the risk of damage to the GI; with the anticonvulsant zonisamide due to the risk of hyperthermia and anhidrosis (lack of sweating, can lead to electrolyte imbalances); glaucoma, GI obstructions and urinary retention, can worsen some cardiovascular conditions and complicate asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. There is a reason pharmacists are supposed to be involved in the sale of these items.

As for this particular combo; the only real interaction is that they are both CNS depressants. I'm surprised a standard interaction checker didn't bring that up.

That is very interesting to know Mr B, thank you :)
I take 1/4 - 1/2 a Restivit pretty much every night, so it's nice to have a bit more info about possible reactions/contraindications.

thanks mr blonde, as they say assumptions are the mother off all fuck ups......

I find Doxylamine Succinate to be the best med for insomnia and obviously you don't risk addiction, it can make you droswey the morning after but if you want a knock out drug and don't want to deal with benzo addictions or even uf have a fucked up tolerance from Benzos, this is a perfect replacement. Obviously not a recreational drug but if you want to get knocked out this is a great OTC drug.

^ I wouldn't quite agree with 'non-addictive'. Obviously it's not recreational, but people have been known to become dependent on it for sleep after using it long term.
