Tell us about the last film you watched, mate!

I wasn't feelin' Chasing Amy at all. Let The Right One In was awesome though, saw it at the cinema and loved everything about it. Those CGI cats were a bit crap though it has to be said. =D

There were a few ol' time classics on TV last night. Translation: two films I've seen over 50 times and could probably quote every line from. I caught the majority of Enter The Dragon whilst flitting back and forth to the bathroom to bleach my hair.

Then The Breakfast Club.

Up to the point where Claire loses it after being accused of being a tease. Then it was bedtime.

d.e.b.s kind of amusing i missed the begining of it though, maybe itll ibe on tv again sometime

Enter the dragon = quality.
Breakfast Club = 80's quality.

Props.

Someone's Knocking at the Door (2009)

Actually, there is a bit of a review on another site

...

Not for the weak of heart or of stomach, the film is drug fueled and based around the premise, kinda, of a pair of sexual partner killers who murder by using their genitals. Yes, the film is about being raped to death. How is one raped to death, you might be asking? Apparently the answer revolved around having a vagina capable of swallowing a human head or a dong the size of my leg.

...

Learning - Don’t do drugs and don’t let a 15 inch long, 8 inch WIDE d*ck anywhere near an orifice.

...

Review - Man. Where to begin? If you just read my little categories up there, this probably sounds like an awesome good time. But it’s not, really ... The drug infusion aspect of the script leads to strange sounds, strange cuts, strange transformations, and basically a lot of strangeness. Oddly, with all the strange, there is a fair bit of almost normal in the middle of the film that drags on and on. ... I can’t really say that this is a good film, but it is definitely an insane flick that horror junkies should check out. When the film goes balls out, it really goes balls out – like to the speed of a gigantic fat man with a baby for a dick (not literally, but almost) who chases a girl down a hallway. ... While you probably won’t love this film, if anything I said has piqued your interest (just admit it, it has) you just need to watch this film to believe it. ... I wish it would have been crazier all throughout. Then it would be a damn masterpiece.

For me, the 'grindhouse' look threw me, in that the filming appeared to be a 70's type production, but then someone whips out an iPhone for medical information, and there are other more 'modern' things throughout - not goofs in filming, IMO, but a modern movie using a grindhouse look. Still, I agree a lot with the review above, in that it is essentially a weird as f'k low budget horror film, with some drugs thrown in. The sex and skin is there, but mostly as a device for murder. The horror and gore is sorta there, at least enough to make it worth watching. The plot/story, I think, is good - especially from a BLer perspective since I think a lot of us could appreciate the effects of random drug use with unknown effects better than the average movie goer, and the reflected behaviour of our characters. The acting isn't deep or uber high quality...but it works.

This isn't a move you should buy, but it's worth a look on a Friday or Saturday night, maybe when you're enjoying your own method of relaxation, just so long as you are stable enough to not let it turn on your own paranoia, and don't plan on having sex later that night :o

robin hood this morning was meh :\

four lions this afternoon was a lollerfest. :D

Black Moon Rising (1986)

C'mon, with John Carpenter guiding a lead cast of Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Hamilton, and Robert Vaughn mixed in with a high tech super car, what can go wrong? Actually, if you wanted some 80's flick that showed the 'quality' of the era (not real cheese, other than age) - this would be a decent ticket. Hell, you've even got William Sanderson (think Larry with brothers Darryl and Darryl) as a guy with 3 minutes of screen time as a deaf-mute who gets run over by a garbage truck. :)

Serious tip - you want 80's sci-fi car and a good cast, this can fit that bill. Given how many other movies are out there, however, I would say you can find something better to do with your time.

Cold Creek Manor was on TV last night

I don't remember when it was, but at some point I must have drifted off into a slumber. What a boring, pointless film.

Loaned this out a couple years ago and never got it back. I snagged it again at a pawn shop for $1.50 and watched it last night. I love this movie. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it. It's a very fun movie that turns a little dark towards the end. The dialogue (that's spelled correctly, spell checker, stop redlining me) reminds me of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

the other guys

will f does his bit where adults act like children, which hit a peak with anchorman, and has been milked dry since. this was actually pretty funny and it has a serious message (watch end credits).

nowhere near as funny as four lions.

This is a bit of an older movie; 2005. I had never heard of it until recently, i don't think it got much attention from mainstream audience's, but wow! It was one of the most beautifully filmed movie's ive ever seen, acting was great and the plot was very engaging, i was able to relate to it really well. It has a similar style to that of 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'.

Amazing masterpiece of film, highly recommend.

Solomon Kane (2009)

Better than ScyFy, with several larger scenes making me wish I were watching on a bigger screen than my iPhone :\ I wasn't familiar with the 'Kane' story, though I suspect quite a few comic book fans and perhaps gamers might recognize it, and therefore the theme of a warrior-killer of sorts who ducks away from owing the Devil his soul and vows peace, only to be drawn back into fighting once more to save a pure your lass. Cliche, perhaps, though the movie was fairly well done. No bad acting, no trading explosions and fight scenes for a lack of plot (though there were plenty of both). Overall, good watch. Preferably on a large screen :\

I've been watching This Is England 86 on TV for the last few weeks, and I've really been getting into it. So I decided it was time I watched the film too, to see how the original story came about (this is a four part drama and continuation of the original story set three years later).

I was instantly hooked in by the opening credits as it featured a lot of the stuff prominent in my own childhood. In fact, the whole thing was like going back in a time machine. They captured everything perfectly. The whole bleak, grittiness made it seem so real and believable and kinda reminded me of what the 80s really were, rather than this shiny great time I remember it being. I guess we're prone to filtering out the bad stuff and tend to focus on the good the majority of the time.

Now I wanna buy some DM's and restyle my hair. I might go for Lol's look in 86. :)

^ :) Saw the Film a while back -Was Brilliant! Havn't seen the Series yet...spotted that guy from 'Emmerdale' on the trailer, whatshisname 'Eli'? or Summit. He's seems to be a great Actor, suprised he hasn't bn in anything less limiting than 'Emmerdale' before 'This is England '86'?.

Fishtank-Trailer makes it look rubbish but films good.

Night of the Living Dead. I used it in Movie Mash-up, so I figured I should watch it. It was disappointing.

I watched it on youtube through my DVD player in HD though, which was pretty fucking cool. And I guess if you watched it on you comp, there were ads occasionally throughout, but when i streamed it through my blueray player, it was ad free. It's on netflix instant too, but it actually looks 5x clearer on youtube.
