Tell us about the last film you watched, mate!

^i wanna see that.

Just watched Total Recall for the first time.

It far exceeded my expectations. I'm a subscriber to both Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose mags so I already knew a lot of the featured artists in the film, but it was cool to see a more personal glimpse into their world. You only get so much from an interview in text.

It was pretty cool.

I forgot how much I love this. Also Catherine Keener is hot. <3

^Great movie. currently on Netflix Instant, in HD.

Mulholland Drive

I watched it with a group of non film buffs though--a social viewing experience. i definitely need to watch it again. i don't know though. i'm having a hard time imagining what could come together during the second viewing to make me love it.

my advice is watch it a second time by yourself, try to draw your own conclusions, then read up on other peoples opinions what the movie means. Watch a 3rd time - mind blown. Its one of my favorite movies but i felt the same after the first viewing.

Great stuff by Guest and crew... I saw Spinal Tap when I was younger and didn't love it like my friends did (probably because I wasn't at all familiar with rock-n'-roll history), but this was pretty hilarious I must say.

Valhalla Rising - I enjoyed it, but I'm a fan of both medieval period pieces and slow, pondering movies focused on imagery. The ending was missing just a little, indescribable something.

Operation: Endgame - Mildly funny (Rob Corddry is the scene-stealer), decent fight scenes, not a terribly good plot or writing in general though. Worth watching if you're a fan of black comedy action movies (is that a genre yet?) and don't come in with any expectations.

Not worth viewing. Was told it's someone's "all-time favorite movie," so I figured there had to be something worthwhile about it... I was wrong.

Though I'm really not a fan of the majority of the work Pixar has done.

Howl's Moving Castle

Heard great things, but I felt it was one of Miyazaki's weaker films. It definitely had its moments though.

(aka "Robert Angelo Masciantonio's Neighbor", 2009)

I liked it. Not a lot of budget, it appears; and not great names. But fairly realistic in terms of someone out of their mind just randomly killing people to see what would happen. No real concern over being caught, no real justification given for their actions, and the choice of death and torture are seemingly random yet realistic for the most part. Granted, IMDB is rating 3.9/10 and most of the positives were done before DVD release, but for me ... I liked it more than expected. I think a big part of my attraction to it is America Olivo as a hot, hot chic...but f'n nuts. I'm not going to recommend it, because it isn't really B-movie quality, nor is it hard core enough to be interesting in an extreme sense.
