Teens trying new, dangerous drug called ‘Molly’

i laughed hillariously at just about every thing in this thread.. i loved the old archived photo of the multi colored e-pills. also the article dalls police close to figuring out what molly is. the pic they show looks like one of the old triangular x-file pills, but it could also be a 3mg xr xanax bc they look basically the same.

looks like there is still good rolls in switzerland, you wouldnt think it by looking at those pills, but damn! 221mgs in that fugly blue mitsi? proof you never know what you could be getting. if youre a fan of MDMA thats like hitting the lotto.

also all the purported molly is hillarious too.

Have you met Molly?

TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Have you met "Molly?" She's a hit at the clubs, and she's popular on the concert scene -- but this is no cute girl.

"Molly" is a drug, and moms and dads should know about it because chances are, your kids already do.

If you hear your teens say they're hanging out with "Molly," or you see it pop up on a Facebook posting, that's a red flag.

Molly started in the underground rave scene, but now is wildly popular with more mainstream teenagers and college kids. They take it at clubs and concerts.

It is a dangerous drug hiding behind a friendly name.

"You could think somebody is talking about a friend or family member when they are talking about a drug," said Natalie Holmes.

"Molly" is also the star of lots of hit songs, even getting a shout out from Madonna at a festival in Miami a few months ago.

She asked the crowd, "Have you met Molly?"

Holmes said it's perfect as a code word.

"It can be a good thing if you're the one using it because it's very discreet. 'Oh yeah, hanging out with Molly tonight, want to see Molly,'" Holmes said.

Molly is short for molecule. It comes as a capsule or powder. Many dealers describe it as pure MDMA. And that pure reputation isn't exactly true.

"It's a synthetic derivative of MDMA, ecstasy," said Major Thomas Feeney of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations division.

Natalie Holmes say she took it every day for four months.

"I really liked it because it was very much like ecstasy. It gave you that euphoric feeling. It was a lot cheaper. It was a lot easier to find," she said.

Hanging out with Molly wasn't that difficult at $20 a pill or $100 a gram. It put Holmes in to six rehabs in four years.

"I used to just take it and sit at home with my friends and listen to music, watch TV, whatever. I think it's definitely pretty prevalent if it hasn't gotten worse since I was using it," she said.

"It's a wave that's traveling throughout the country, and it's something that we have to be on the watch for in Hillsborough County," Feeney said.

The effects of this drug last three to four hours. It has no smell, but has symptoms.

"Clenching the teeth, increased blood pressure. Increased heart rate. Severe dehydration and hyperthermia, which is a dramatic increase in your core body temperature, which ultimately results in your organs being cooked from inside out," Feeney explained.

Holmes finally went her separate ways from Molly. She just graduated from DACCO's residential treatment facility. It's a fresh start after years of addiction.

"It's never too late to turn your life around and do the right thing," she said.

Now is your chance to get the word out about these deceptive nicknames.

This reminds of this other drug I been hearing a lot about. Apparently it goes by the name of "Pot" and is quite popular with the young folk.

Police, scientists, and other experts are working hard to find out more about this dangerous new drug.

I haven't taken MDMA in YEARS. But I can tell you one thing about the "Molly" in my area. It's either Methylone or Mephedrone. It has that catpiss-like smell and I've ID'd this on multiple occasions for my friends because I actually know what 4-MMC/bk-MDMA smells like. Hell it might even be 4-MEC or 4-EMC, they all have that very unique smell and the drip is that weird numbing sensation. My friends response is...well it definitely gets the job done. Yeah, sorry dude, that 500mg of powder is definitely not MDMA but methylone, a RC that wasn't technically illegal in the USA until a few months ago, so becareful. Oh and it's actually being called "moon rock" molly, just like the slang for real MDMA. I personally refuse to take anything off of street anymore and haven't for YEARS lol but I still give out advice.

^yea moon rock is whats its being called now around here. (begins old fart speech that starts with...) Back in my day when you bought a cap of molly it was a 0 size gel cap with some rocky substance in it, it would ususally smell slightly like anise or licorice, you would take it and have a fun clean roll for 4-6 hours, with all the usual MDMA effects, then come down easy and feel fine the next day, sometimes kinda shitty, sometimes great.

now its all blundered into stupid code words and slang that just confuse ppl and give shady dealers the opertunity to pass off the myridas of similar substances on idiot kids who are none the wiser. i mean shit, look at e-data.org some of the "molly" has 5 or 6 different ingredients in it. the same thing will happen with "moon rocks" crystals of some other RC will start showing up and will deceive ppl into thinking its 86% pure MDMA from holland. You damn kids!

damn.... it looks like they are going to make molly illeagal n0w. and are they seriously going to start reporting slang as a new drug?

Joe Budden opens up about struggle with trendy drug 'Molly'

NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -
Molly is not a girl but the top trending drug at parties and on college campuses all across the country. Popping a Molly makes you feel happy and sexy, but experts say just one dose can mess up your brain for life.

Molly is the latest version of ecstasy that's often laced with other drugs like angel dust.

Madonna, Kanye West, and Rihanna have all mentioned Molly in songs.

"Now everyone is speaking about Molly like it's the thing to do," says Joe Budden, a hip hop artist.

Joe sat down with me in his New Jersey home to warn others about the dangers of a drug he binged on last summer, and barely survived.

"I didn't see a problem with the fact that maybe five days would go by without sleeping," Budden says. "I didn't see a problem with the fact that maybe I was hallucinating at times. I didn't see a problem with the fact that I just couldn't get up and walk sometimes."

Budden had a lot to lose: a hit reality TV show and finishing a solo album his fans were eagerly anticipating.

His album "no love lost" dropped this week. He says he only made it to this point because people who loved him intervened.

"It just altered your thinking process dramatically and for a thinker like myself that was like nothing I'd ever experienced before," he says.

Budden was lucky. Tens of thousands of Molly users end up in emergency rooms. It's so that bad federal health trackers say the number in the United States has more than doubled in six years.

Dr. Petros Levounis of the addiction institute of New York says using it just once can change the way your brain functions forever. But you might not see it right away.

"People get a false sense of safety and security with Molly or ecstasy," Dr. Levounis says. "Meanwhile, what ecstasy does is give you long-term effects."

Long-term effects such as panic attacks and depression, and immediate life-threatening physical conditions if you use it with other substances, which many users do.

"if ecstasy doesn't do much for you by itself, it you start combining it with other stimulants like cocaine or bath salts, the problem really skyrockets and you may end up having your heart stop," Dr. Levounis says.

None of these concerns seem to be slowing the spread of Molly. Social media makes it easy for buyers and sellers to meet up and deal under the law enforcement radar, says former DEA Agent Robert Strang, now of Investigative Management Group.

"All the ingredients you need you can buy at a pharmacy, and anybody can make it in their kitchen," Strang says. "That's part of the problem so it's very difficult to detect by law enforcement."

For now, Budden is hoping people will listen to his music and his message about Molly.

"I thought it was important for somebody, anybody to stand up and say, 'you know, I did that, it's corny,'" he says. "I'm just hoping that at the end of the day, it won't be me versus the entire music industry when it comes to who a 13-year-old should listen to regarding drugs."

Budden told me right now he is taking it one day at a time. But he is looking to the future and hopes that it includes a generation that loves music but rejects the self-destructive messages.

now I remember why I don't read 90% of drug reportage...would it kill them to do some research? obviously it would, as they're going to perpetuate the same old tired puritan anti-drug message

Joe Budden binges on Methylone for a week, tells reporters he's taking life one step at a time now as he recovers from his horrible addiction.
Grow a pair. He couldn't have felt shitty for any longer than 1-2 weeks max.

"All the ingredients you need you can buy at a pharmacy, and anybody can make it in their kitchen," Strang says. "That's part of the problem so it's very difficult to detect by law enforcement."

^uhhhhhh what? misinformation much? i didnt know everyone was an expert in O-chem and that the pharmacy sold safrole lol who the hell writes this stuf!?!

"Molly is the latest version of ecstasy that's often laced with other drugs like angel dust."
yes, because it makes perfect sense to "lace" MDMA with a rare and expensive dissociative 8) it's hard to take any of this seriously

Molly is what americans are calling MDMA crystal / powder.

That article is one big pile of sht smeared over the screen.
