Teen dies while on Skype after buying drugs from Silk Road

You guys are drawing baseless conclusions. I can think of well over 20 drugs off the top of my head that high doses will lead to "not being able to hold a conversation and not making any sense"

500mg of pure MDMA won't kill you unless it is mixed with the wrong substance or the wrong conditions which are secondary to the drug itself (ie., drinking too much or too little water, overheating due to inadequate ventilation, etc).

We don't know what this kid took. It could have been anything. But 500mg of MDMA won't be killing anyone under normal circumstances.
 
Aren't people who take 500 mg doses of MDMA usually pretty tolerant? For a kid without much experience, 500 mg MDMA plus a large dose of another synergistic drug sounds pretty dangerous. If he were a little bit MDMA-sensitive, hot, dehydrated, epileptic, or had some other kind of condition, that puts him right in the danger zone.

If the drugs WERE what they way they were, dangerous still won't equal to death. Things are fishy.
 
most people wouldn't be getting mdma even close to high purity , from experience I could see how 500mg of pure (90% ) mdma could possibly be fatal.

Anyone who's taken a few beans knows the difference in their roll between say 80mg and 100mg and 150mg. The increase in effect of only a few mg can be huge ,this wasn't a seasoned drug user here it was a teenager who probably would have been off his tits on 150mg and yet took 3.5X that amount.

I bet anyone 100 million dollars that this kid got some nonsense research chemicals he "thought" was xtc and lsd... What most of these dumb kids don't realize that LSD is so rare and hard to find that even I don't think LSD really exists anymore in its real form, i would say 99.9% of "LSD" out there is just some dumbass Research chemical put on blotter paper or whatever other median kids think LSD comes on. Just legalize all drugs and let corporations sell them in their pure form, then if someone OD's it will be b/c they did it on purpose or are just completly retarded and can't follow directions on the package.

There is lots of LSD out there. Maybe not in your town but i find it easy to locate. There were good and bad LSD vendors on SR, if thats where he got it. If he did his research he probably got real LSD, if he went for the cheapest new guy vendor he may not have. I must be really really lucky as i never get nbombed, either that or you 99 percent number is way off.

"Ecstasy" could still include stuff like PMA. Also, one of the friends of the deceased has already accused the tabloids of completely misrepresenting the facts. I don't know if this guy is who he says he is but if what he is saying is true then it wouldn't surprise me. Would a real coroner’s report actually say, "ecstasy" or be more specific?

I remember in the 80s there used to be a TV show called "Hard News" that told the stories of how ordinary people had their lives f***d over by tabloids who make them the subject of a sensational, and mostly false, story. Happens all the time. Tabloids own the public perception of the "truth" because they have the loudest mic.
 
Crazy stuff... feel bad for the kid and may he rest in peace. It's scary how some people can just die like that... I'm lucky I've made it out of some things. At a festival I ended up taking a pressed mortal kombat red dragon pill (200mgs and all this shit tested smoked straight black...yes smoked) and I ended up getting a half gram of this fire fucking mda later that night. Well, I was literally sticking my fingers into the bag and eating that shit... I even gave my friend some, but he didn't take a lot. I ended up eating basically the whole bag and I didn't even notice. I was that fucked up... and having a good time. I was also walking around with no type of jacket on in the mountains on a very cold night where I could see my breath. Yup, never doing that again. Luckily I was okay after doing that. Wish this kid would have had the same fate. Still could have been something else that lead to it.... and most likely was...

No way. I've seen someone take 700 mg (top quality) the first night they tried MDMA, to no adverse effect. This seems extreme but it's not terribly unusual behaviour in the rave scene here, at least, and no one ever dies from it.

If 500mg of MDMA was enough to kill people, kids would have been dropping like flies from multi-tabbed experiences. Didn't seem to happen, and MDMA seems to be a relatively safe chemical in small overdose, like most stimulants, if they don't kill you outright from a infarction you'll likely live (not like the guy taking a sip from the 50,000USD of meth drink story).

Not saying you can't die from stimulants at all, just that 500mg is not likely to kill any normal human.

He knew what he was getting into when he decided to take a high dose of many drugs at once. Whilst I'm sure the lad didn't think he would die when doing so, coupled with the fact that none of the drugs taken at said doses are lethal to a healthy human being, I vote underlying health condition.

Whilst my condolences go out to his family, he was still an idiot - the reason why the Government don't trust us to use drugs responsibly. He wasn't 'well-informed' on drugs....he thought he was well informed.

Stop giving MDMA a bad name, and leave it to the adults.

Exactly. Also known as being floored. All you can do is bop your head to the music. Don't even bother trying to use your eyes because they're wiggling so hard you're basically blind. That's at like 200-300mg for me. I cannot imagine what 500mg would be like, especially if your serotonin levels are within a normal (non-depleted) range. Yikes. And then also the candyflipping. Jeez. Poor kid.

Pretty shit point you have there. Probably because most people with a brain wouldn't eat a load of untested drugs....More to the point, If I had eaten that many drugs at once and something happened, its my fault. I was a fucking idiot. It's no one else's fault. Not Silk Road. Not drugs. It was me.

I don't get why everyone is sticking up for this lad. He ate a shit load of drugs and he paid the price for it. It was his fault. Sure it's tragic it happened, but trying to devoid the lad of responsibility is just foolish.
