Van D- Soundscapes are something I am starting to appreciate as well.
I met this tek head and he really showed me how to appreciate tek and the way sounds can create images in your mind. Like some labels and the image they portray (is that what you mean by soundscapes?).
Wet music is an obvious example. Some of the sounds are soo slippery. anyone noticed?

but that dj 'trick' where a dj drops a tune in on the 'half beat' umm well can be refered to as 'dropping' a tune on the 'half' beat..dj'z who know their stuff will understand, umm perhaps also maybe 'double beating' however this can be confused for a fuck up.
In regards to the prior arguments regarding stylez and preferences, who gives a shit its all good. Music wasn't made to be loved by all, it comes down to taste.

Woo~Hoo!!!!! So glad to see there is a very healthy techno scene in Oz. I`ll be with youse all at the end of October (for a year), I`m coming over from Ireland on the working holiday thingy.
My 2pee worth anyway, as far as techno goes you can`t get better than the plastikman himself Richie Hawtin, I`ve seen him three times this year doing his Decks, EFX and a 909 show, WOW is all I have to say.
the other good `un in my book, and this guy is gonna be massive is Umek from Slovenia, he releases stuff on the tortured label as Mumps.

I'm looking for some techno orientated new years party so if any one knows of anything let me know.
Ruskin will warm up for Surgeon I reckon. It depends if people will lap it up the harder it is. An encouraging shout to the DJ of "C'mon you fuckin' B'stard is that as hard as it gets" Usually gets the Surgeon to operate (joke)

Plenty of good techno nights over here though. In the past few months I`ve managed to catch...Hawtin (3times), Umek(twice), Joel Mull, Rolando(twice), Luke Slater, Speedy J, Thomas Krone, Steve Rachmad, Billy Nasty (ad nauseum), Joey Beltram amoungst others.
Where are ya planning to go in Oz? When will you get there?

Yo Yo i'm flying in to Sydney on 22 November, my g/f has got relatives there so we'll stay with them for a week then its sorting out where to stay and how long ets. I'm going to stay in Sydney and Melbourne before travelling north in Feb/March.
It sounds like Melbourne is the place for techno, but the price a little fellas is a bit high £20 ahhhh
