herbavore I have never had pumpkin pie!! What's it like?

It is like a custard with pumpkin, molasses and then every spice that makes your house smell divine while it is baking: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. Someday when you get your sweet self over to my part of the world I will bake you one!<3

Mostly like the spices found therein, with a bit of squashy sweetness. I'm actually not super keen on it; it's okay, but not amazing. Makes the home smell pretty great though.

Really, Dave? Curried pumpkin soup? Pumpkin pancakes? Pumpkin Flan? mmmmm. Do you like other squash like acorn or butternut? Next question, are these just North American things--never thought about it. Yams are big in Africa, and calabash, but what about pumpkins?

It sounds intriguing! but yeah I never hear of anyone eating it over here! Maybe I should give it a go, I remember n3o once got me hooked on scrambled eggs so maybe it'll be the same with pumpkin!

It is...maybe we should make it a team effort.... feel free to PM whenever you need to and the way you worded the first sentence made me smile :)

Derp, I totally misread your post wooger. I thought you were asking about pumpkin pie, not pumpkin.

Pumpkin is a moderately sweet gourd, a bit less sweet than acorn squash, but moreso than butternut. Roasts up beautifully, and has incredibly healthy seeds.

Wait... I thought n3o wasn't keen on eggs. I am confuse.

i feel crushed.
booked a viewing of an apartment last night.
found an awesome place to live, nice people...

then found out that the place was rented already. fuckers.

it hurts so much to get excited about something, then to do a 180 and be sad about it.

Down to 2.5mg of sub baby! Loving how things are going recently I just hope they keep going so smooth. Still eating TONS of veggies and trying to focus on wellbeing now more than ever. I really truely feel that as long as I keep this currenty strategy and stay focused that I'm definitely going to make it off opiates this time.

Before I was so rushed about tapering and now I'm realizing how absurdly easy it is to lower your dose and still feel well as long as you take your time and don't rush. Been doing about .25mg a week, get a slight lull in energy which usually comes back by the end of the week and than I drop again.

Gdamn I just really feel like this is it. I wanna make it this time sooo bad I can't even explain.

^Well, Bo, you've got two of the best tools to get there: optimism and strength. And what you have done to change your diet up has probably helped a lot. Isn't it amazing how good you can feel when you eat right? I know that when I don't eat right everything starts going wrong mentally but I forget that first basic step--what I am I putting into my body to fuel it?

@Kaywholed--that sounds really disappointing. Why did they set up a showing if they already rented it?!

@Badfish--yeah, I wish it had ended with an up but at least you're in motion and not stuck in a down, right?

Oh wooger!!! Pumpkin is one of my favourite vegetables in the world!! Roast pumpkin is absolute MAGIC <3 And pumpkin soup is perfect in winter <3
Try it :)

You'd be correct!! Except that was the me from 12 months ago ;)
One night when my boyfriend was away for work for a month I didn't really have any food left in the house.....except half a carton of eggs that he hadn't finished before he left for the month. So I bit the bullet and boiled up one of them. I had to google how to boil an egg =D
I peeled it, cracked salt and pepper on it and ate it, and it was awesome!! Granted, I was totally frickin hungry at the time, so that helped.
So now I can eat eggs. I went through a huge phase of perfecting poached eggs! But I haven't cooked or eaten any eggs in like...2 months? I don't know why...maybe I should have a boiled egg tonight :)

Up...down....up...down....up....down...

You have experienced the last 3 days in the eyes of badfish. time to get rid of these downs.
Yeah, definitely gotta get rid of those downs mate, you deserve better <3
What can we do to help?

Damnit kaywholed, that sucks man. Sorry to hear that. Another place will come along though, try not to let it get you too down <3

Badfish, keep going, you can kick the downs :) <3

Kaywholed, same thng happened to me... then I found an even better place. Keep looking :)

To everyone discussing pumpkins: I love them! We do eat them here, but not as much as you North Americans do I think.. butternut squash is pretty common here. You're all making me hungry, and as someone who has had no appetite for 2 days, I thank you all :D

Hah! Just spilled coffee all over myself but miraculously missed the keyboard--yay!! (Badfish, does this ring a bell?:))
It got really cold here, like overnight went from our glorious autumn-summer (best months of the year here are Aug/Sept?Oct) to rainy and cold. Now I woke up and it is summer again--sun shining, warm, sparkling. Sounds like you and the weather have something in common right now Badfish. Anyway, I just pulled the last of the summer vegies out of the garden and will dig in the compost so I can plant all the winter stuff.
I think growing food and flowers has to be one of the most healing things I can do. It covers all the bases. It's like being a toddler playing in the mud, an artist creating something out of nothing, a parent because you get to nurture something, and it's great exercise to boot! So, I'm going to go dig---everybody in the TCS family-- have a good day (and remember there are a lot of ways to do that). :)

Score! All good pickin's for a fortuitous day! I like to think there is a Spirit that guards the keyboard from miscellaneous food/liquid/granule debris. :)
