More of the Dubliner, some spreadable Black Diamond Aged white Cheddar, some pickles, crackers and carrots with ranch. Tasty tasty!!

Pissed off by the unbelievable tackiness of the Qld flood coverage here.

The names of those who died were released yesterday so every network showed a montage of pictures of those people. One network chose Overcome by Live as background music. These are the lyrics to the chorus they played :

Tacky, sentimental, whatever. It is quite possibly the worst poetry that I've ever read. I wrote better stuff than that in grade four. It reads like something that an overworked technical intern threw together two minutes before it was being recorded.

Not to belittle the horrible damage caused by the flooding, but I just can't get over that poem. Ugh.
 
I'll never forget when katrina hit and I would hear people with their songs about how god was judging america for its sinful ways etc etc ...

made me think of some pretty sinful things to do to those fucking idiots.

Of course they're going to use this to their advantages and pull all the sob stories out, and ask people blatantly obvious questions like "So how did you feel when seeing your entire family get swept away by an 8m floodwave? Devastating i imagine?"

Just dont watch tv. I don't want to see that crap. I avoid news on this flood. Pretty obvious what's happening anyway.
 
I also need to stop reading the news :| I am starting to get really adversely affected. Problem is that I am a bit of a news junkie and always have been.

If I see the mugshot of that creepy lunatic who shot the Arizona congresswoman one more time I think I may finally throw up.

My <3 goes out to all of you in Aus, especially those who were affected... but whomever chose that song for a news segment on massive flooding needs to be sacked. Yikes :(

I just cant believe everywhere is flooding. Like, everywhere. A country town 5 minutes from my mum's country house has flooded. Mental. (Her house is chill).

i notice this shit too, marketing and advertising is endlessly interesting to me, but plain evil. watching it, whats noticed mostly are things like manipulating out a shocking/riveting story from a traumatized person/subject; the targeting of commercials; aiming at people overwhelmed, or lonely, impulsive, wanting a need, or something to come along and "change your life", or promise essentially money, sex, or the easiest way to do anything; even if its to entertain and educate your children, w/o even having to try!!
the last time i turned on the tv for myself was several months ago, hoping to find a movie, then it went off. the longest i went w/o watching television was around 3 years i think.
