Just noticed this thread. I've had pets most of my life. Most have been dogs with the odd cat or two thrown in for good measure, but I never thought of myself as a cat person. Until this past year! My cousin had several kittens that were just coming into heat and asked me if I would bring one home until her cycle passed. I didn't want too, but he has helped me in the past so I went ahead and agreed to do so. To make a long story short, the kitten, who was unnamed at the time, never made it back home. Never in my life would I have thought I would invest the emotion I have into a cat, but I have!

Her name is Lucy, and she is a blue point Himalayan, and the smartest cat ever! At least I think so. She is about 1.5 years old and is a total indoors cat, except when it snowed this year and she ventured onto the front porch to check it out.

So it's just Lucy and I here at the house, and we get along just great!
 
^^ Ohh that is such a nice story!! She would've loved the snow! What with her thick coat and all.
My boyfriend was the same before he met me, he'd never had a cat or hardly had anything to do with cats in his life. He'd always had multiple dogs growing up. But now because of me and my (our) multiple kitties, he's fully converted in to a cat AND dog person!

My kitties give me the bestest feeling ever. My girl Emmie (the funny colored tortie) *always*, and I mean *always* wants to snuggle, and Loki is the smartest cat I've ever come across (my little black and white troublemaker). "The original" is Callie (shockingly, a calico, lol), who was my first pet ever, and she's 17 this year - I was not entirely unoriginal at age 8, though; Callie is short for Calliopy. Unfortunately she has to stay with my parents these days because of health problems and a bit of a proclivity for peeing on things, but she's still mah gurl. :)

^I like to think along those lines for Shaman. He was taking in the fresh, crisp Colorado air when we were living out there. He truly found pleasure in the simple things in the day-to-day
