I can kinda understand people not liking/being afraid of rats.

But honestly, ocean, once you got to know these girlies, you'd be fine. They are so sweet and playful, and so soft! :) <3

By the way, I don't really like mice. Obviously not afraid of them as such, but they're toootally different to ratties! Mice smell, and are really skittish. Ewww :|

^^ I fully agree with you regarding rats vs mice. If anyone is considering a pet rodent then I can't recommend rats enough! They are amazing pets :D

Next time I move I'm finding somewhere to rent that'll let me have a pet!

Yep they're a completely different species :)

I <3 my kitties!! :)

I had rats. Hand raised rats are very affectionate and gentle. Awesome pets. Something to consider when contemplating having rats is that their life span is only about three years give or take a year.

My rats adored watermelon and fortune cookies above any other foods. I made sure to not give them treats til after they had eaten nutritionally balanced pellets. They didn't mind pellets to much but they ravenously devoured fortune cookies and watermelon with such frenzied delight that was a pleasure to watch.

I don't know if I have pics anywhere of Serena and Livia, the rats that lived with me. I'll try to find some pics sometime to post. Rats as pets tend to be Rattus Norvegicus, same as most lab rats and most sewer rats. I've wondered if Rattus Rattus, the roof rat, is a good pet or even an attainable pet. I just read more on rattus rattus, apparently they are numerous and problematic in New Zealand. I can not find any data about them as pets.

Nope Enki mah man, all pet rats are Rattus norvegicus. Rattus rattus aren't very pleasant creatures I would imagine.

I would LOVE to see some photos of the girls you had! (if you can find any pics that is)

They really are the cutest little creatures huh :)
The girls I'm rat-sitting at the moment LOVE Shmackos dog treats! It's hilarious, they go mental over them =D

Look at all the ginger kittehs on this page! And cute rats. I only know rats from behavioral research (non-cruel). Our little friend "Skinner" had a wonderful home with my lab partner after he learned to press a few thousand levers. :)

Albert (gray) and Sasha (ginger) are having a lovely nap in the window right now. Longcats are long :D

^^ +1!!! 8o
They are big boys! So gorgeous too I might add <3

They were about 10 lbs when they were neutered at 6 months of age. They're a little heavier and a LOT longer now, at age 13 months. Sasha is heavier than Albert (Al was the runt) by a little bit. Both the boys are very healthy, happy, and curious. They haven't calmed down really at all... they're just huge kittens that are so playful and it's really cute also to see my bf be all paternal with them. <3

They were around 2 lbs when they were brought to us.

I hope we bring them the happiness they bring us. :)
