tar heroin

just a quick question...
what do they put in heroin to change it from an offwhite powder into a shit colored tar?
i'm not making it or anything, i'm just curious how they do this in a mannor that makes it (reletively) safe to inject.

Powder is refined from tar and more potent, but powder is also more likely to be cut.

Ideally you want neither tar or powdered heroin. Heroin that comes in the form of white to off-white to tan to brown rocks is generally the most potent form on a consistent basis. But exceptions due happen.
