Tapering with Buprenorphine

Hi all.

Up untill around 7-8 weeks ago I was on methadone maintenance and had got down from 70mg/day to 40mg/day.

A few things happened and I ended up having to move out and this messed with my script and I was missing appointments and pick up's due to other stuff that was happening.

I ended up unscripted and weaned myself off the 40mg/day methadone down to 1 bag/day of H which I am currently maintaining.

I saw the doctor and told him as I had all the methadone out of my system that I didn't want to go back onto it and would try bupe.

He gave me 4 x 2mg tablets with the instructions: Take one as late as possible, one an hour later and two before bed

Then the next day to start 2 x 8mg supervised.

That seems to me a high dose for just 1 bag a day? I don't want to end up stuck on a Bupe script like I was methadone.

My question is if I have my last bag today, will the 4 x 2mg tablets be enough to wean me off insufflated as late as possible and what would you suggest I do?

If I was to pick my script up then I would precipitate withdrawl as I would have to get it in the next couple of hours and it hasn't been long since I used.

Seems excessive to go from one bag a day to 16mg bupe a day for 'x' ammount of time.

What would you suggest?

My use now is the lowest it's been for a long time and Im so glad to not be tied to methadone any more.

Why are you going to 16mgs ? Did you ask for that?
You may be able to do a quick taper mabye start with 1mg or 2mg a day and work you way down but I would like to know why your going to 16mgs cause that's a lot of bupe I didn't need that much and I did an 8ball a day of China white I had 8mg and it was plenty. Seems weird your doc is making you go to 16 without your opinion but many docs do that so you can't catch a buzz form the sub when dosing but what they end up doing is raising your tolerance to 4-5 times what it was on heroin making you even more addicted since even though the high dose bupe won't get you high it will still be a lot of opiates glowing through your body you just can't feel the opitaes since the dose is too high to provide you euphoria.
