I have been taking oxycodone for quite some time and last week my doctor wrote me a script for 90 roxis(30mg instants)..between last week and now i have been taking about 4-5(120-150mg) daily of oxycodone so my question is since i dont get a refill until next month, what is the best way to go about taking these 9 roxis without going through withdrawals real bad? because i know stopping instantly creates bad withdrawals which i hate so is there any way you guys would suggest to "taper down" from oxycodone to minimize withdrawals? thanks in advance

While oxycodone isn't the best drug to taper with, you can probably still do it.

I would try your regular dose (30mg) and work your way up until you're not in withdrawal anymore, then taper down from there. You're lucky because you can split those Roxicodones into halves (15mg) and quarters (7.5mg).

Aside from finding and taking the lowest effective dose, there are lots of OTC options that may be useful prior to or if you run out such as loperamide, dextromethorphan, sedating antihistamines such as doxylamine, kava, NSAIDs such as naproxen, etc. Many of these options can help reduce some of your pain and/or withdrawal symptoms so your oxy can go further. Another options would be purchasing kratom.

If you check the other drugs directory, there are a lot of ways discussed to mitigate narcotic withdrawals and throughout the site, the topics I mentioned above are discussed and you can find loads of information on them. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions as well - what you described is a position I've been in many times.

The best way to taper with roxis for me is to start with a dose to where you're not sick. Drop it bit by bit over a week til you're down to one 30. Then taper off one 30. I can do a sucessful roxi taper in a few days. You will still feel some mild WD symptons but it's not horrible and by tapering it won't last as long, atleast in my experience. Sadly I have to do this every month with Opana because I am in pain management and under medicated. Opana tapers are a bitch.

One thing you might want to try if you have to take them every day is to stash half of it somewhere in your closet or wherever... forget about it til mid month. Then when you look in your bottle you think you have less. I have been somewhat successful doing this. I can make my meds go 3 weeks instead of 2. ALSO I Always keep 2 days worth of meds hidden incase of a theraputic drug test. That way they can't say I don't take my meds. Good luck!

ETA: If you only have 9 is start with 2 then next day go one.. then hit bumps or take the equivalant amount orally til you have tapered. Just remember dose less. I have done some amazingly low doses of roxi to keep myself from being too sick.... Look into some DXM, and some immodium... these are OTC and might help you. Perhaps you might want to potentiate the lower doses as well so it might seem like more....
