It's amazing
The hurtful things that people say and do
In the name of honesty
To get things "off their chest"
To gain sympathy
To get ahead
What they don't see
Is they aren't really being honest
Or even helping anything
They just plunge a knife in
And twist it slowly
For nothing but their own immediate pleasure
How hard would it be
To show some tact
And even some love
For those that they don't know
Or even particularly care about
But who care about them
They have the fleeting satisfaction
Of having the last word
Getting in that dig
But in the process they hurt
Judge without a trial or jury
And they lose in the end
The hurtful things that people say and do
In the name of honesty
To get things "off their chest"
To gain sympathy
To get ahead
What they don't see
Is they aren't really being honest
Or even helping anything
They just plunge a knife in
And twist it slowly
For nothing but their own immediate pleasure
How hard would it be
To show some tact
And even some love
For those that they don't know
Or even particularly care about
But who care about them
They have the fleeting satisfaction
Of having the last word
Getting in that dig
