Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul hinted in an interview Friday that he smoked marijuana in his youth, adding that voters should not confuse his push for reduced criminal penalties for drug offenses as an endorsement of drug use.

Paul, who announced plans this week to seek re-election to the Senate in 2016 and is actively exploring whether to run for president, said he “wasn’t a choir boy” when asked by Louisville television station WHAS if he had used marijuana while in college.

“Let’s just say I wasn’t a choir boy when I was in college and that I can recognize that kids make mistakes, and I can say that I made mistakes when I was a kid,” Paul said in an interview broadcast Friday night.

“I think drugs, marijuana included, aren’t good for you,” Paul said. “I don’t want to be someone who is seen as being this person advocating for drug use. I think they’re not a good idea.”

Well, if Rand Paul thinks that drugs are not a good idea...

(actually, I don't give a fuck, I only care if he plans to continue the drug war)

(But just because he now thinks that it was a mistake to use drugs doesn't mean all people believe that it is a mistake. I myself happen to believe that using drugs has saved me. So, assuming that he knows that his opinions are only opinions, and freedom is what is necessary, all is good.)

Its a very tough issue for a politician to speak about. RP is a libertarian at heart. They are all about freedom and ending the drug war. He needs to get a bunch of brained washed sheeple to vote for him. Stating his position this way he gives his take and tries not to scare the puritans and the ignorant away.

Also with the republicans filling up future washington they are going to pull a classic flip flop on MJ and will end up supporting it some how. Like states rights would be one avenue.
