taking very old tuinal - safe?

i have the rare opportunity to try out some tuinal (secobarbital and amobarbital in one capsule.) the thing is, it's literally an antique. the script was written in 1953. is there any danger from taking these pills? will they even work? and any idea what would be an appropriate dose for someone with a bit of a benzo tolerance but very little barb experience?

Fucking lucky...

I think it would be safe although it may have lost a little potency. Although I'd display them or something, they're extremely rare these days.
 
i hear about people taking and enjoying dead grandma's attic-found barbs and quaaludes all the time. have fun.

Begin at a low dose. Barbs are super stronger than benzos, and Tuinal is a combination of two barbs, so they already potentiate each other.
 
yeah, that's what i figured. any idea if the anterograde amnesia is as bad with barbs as it can be with benzos?
 
Vlatrone - if i had access to a camera at the moment i'd post some pics, but they're definitely legit. look just like the first result on google image search for "tuinal." the writing isn't legible anymore and the colors have faded some, but they're real. the note on the pharmacist's box says "take one if needed for sleeping."
 
okay, it's been a little over an hour since my first dose of two. after about 45 minutes i was feeling pretty mellow but wanted a little more "boost" so i popped one more. then, to my amazement, i found a tube of phenobarbital from about the same time period. i took two of those as well about fifteen minutes ago and i am feeling sooooooooo relaxed. seriously, benzos ain't got shit on barbs. shame they're so rare. i'll report back if anything changes. for now i'm gonna lay back and listen to some elliott smith in honor of the anniversary of his death.

don't worry, i don't expect to take anymore today. but i wanted to make the most of what could well be a one-time experience.
 
do you think drinking a single beer would be dangerous at this point? it's been almost two hours since my first dose and i'm totally lucid, just a little "fuzzy." :)

edit: NeighborhoodThreat, i just realized you're in richmond. way cool. i spend a lot of time there (went to vcu and visit often.) i just moved from fredericksburg to lexington briefly before heading back to either richmond or charlottesville. nice to see someone from the area on here.
 
welp, i'm gonna try sipping on a trippel coriander. i have people around me to keep an eye out, so all should be fine. cheers, friends.
 
Go very steady, barbs + other downers have been the undoing of many people..
