Benzos Taking valium for the first proper time recreationally

Should be getting a decent amount of valium pills (10mg) in the next few days. I've taken a pill and a half before of what I believe was a 10mg pill, not completely sure but it was blue with a 10 written on it so makes sense to me. I felt next to nothing from this dosage even when smoking bud with it. My question is, for a first time user with I imagine no tolerance atall, how big a dose is needed to get a full on recreational effect? I'm pretty experienced with drugs so don't think I'll need to worry about OD'ing or anything silly like that.
Also do you get any euphoric effects from it in high doses? All I really know about valium so far is that it causes relaxing effects and helps to sleep so I'd like a basic bit of background info.

Many benzo users (including myself) go into benzos thinking "okay, that dose was fun, if I double it should be double-fun, right?", and that common mistake leads to many, many bad things.

Valium isn't very euphoric. Its a wonderful tool for anxiety and stress, but it isn't a party drug. I know people who will eat 20mgs of xanax through night thinking they'll have fun, but just ending up blacked out for days, breaking things. Generally, less is more when it comes to benzos.

They're a godsend for stimulant comedowns, sleep, anxiety, or maybe with a couple beers. But getting carried away with them is not pleasant.
 
Oh, and as for valium dose, I like 15-20mg before smoking and then sleeping.
 
20-30mg would be a safe effective dose to start with I think. (As long as you ain't mixing it with other downers).
Diazepam actually does have some euphoric effects to it IMO/IME other than just chilling you out and relaxing you.
If I were you I would check out erowid.org and read the basics about it and some experience reports that show the dose taken and effects received for a better idea on what to expect.
I could go into more detail but I'm on my phone and it's not as easy to type lol.

Yeah I don't intend to take it as a party drug haha, I want it for sleeping after MDMA and other stimulants, and also for quiet nights where I'm just blazing, I just want to know really what it brings to the table for the chilling basis that weed doesn't basically.
 
Yes that sounds like it most likely was a 10 mg Valium. There are a couple of reasons you may not have felt much. One reason is it could have been a fake pill. There are rumors floating around that fake pills make their way over from India that are very weak compared to the real thing, despite looking exactly exactly the same... another possibility is that you naturally have a higher tolerance, but really, most people should normally feel SOMETHING from 10 mg of Valium. I can't give you specific dosage recommendations, because honestly it varies for everybody one, and two I think it isn't allowed on here anyway to give specific dosage recommendations. I can say however that I have heard of 20 mg being a typical beginner's recreational dose (this dosage worked well for me as well), but again I along with others I know have in the past taken only 10 mgs and reached an effect, albeit a milder one. Those with tolerance have taken up to 40 or 50 mg in a shot, but I wouldn't advise trying this of course, at least not until you know yourself well and how well you work with it.

Best advice would be of course to not take it at all ;)
 
For after mdma I'd go more towards the 30ish mg for sleep.. keep in mind it has a long Half Life.

If you're planning on taking it with weed I'd cut the dose down a bit till you are more aware of your tolerance to it and how it effects you.
 
Well I am 6ft 2 so I do tend to have a higher tolerance to drugs than most of my friends etc. I think I'll try 30mg and see from there.
 
Are benzodiazepines really that recreational, are they worth the severe dependency and dozens of problems that they are associated with? I've been using benzodiazepines as tools, not toys, for a decade and I don't know what people see in them as recreational drug, they are not euphoric, they lead to the worst dependency I've ever experienced through any types of drug class, and are overall better used in moderation as needed not as a daily thing because you'll become dependent quicker than you can even think or even dream of. Talk about whole tons of risk for a whole Zero of reward.
 
Yeah this isn't something I would take on a day to day basis. I'm quite disciplined with drugs and would like to believe I'm good with willpower, when I need to get uni projects done I can easily cut out smoking weed, never take MDMA more than once a month and can even resist re-dosing meph when most others would become 'fiendish' and re-dose. I'm getting it purely for the occasional night where I want to chill/help me get to sleep if I have an early start the next day, NOT every day. I know about the dependability issues a lot of people face with benzos so I would be very strict on myself with how often I take it.
 
That's the truth TC..
I take them because I actually need them. I have severe anxiety and schizoaffective disorder. I can't even go outside without them.
But people will abuse anything these days.
Been on them since I was a teen.. In combo with anti psychotics and other meds I can ALMOST function normally lol.
 
But the OP just wants them for a come down/sleep aid.. that's a legit use in my book.
They'd give you the same if you showed up in the er tweaking.

yeah i get freaked out when i hear of people taking high doses of xanax and valium for a 'good time'...i have taken benzos many times and i cant think of any great times ive had on them..i take them for certain types of anxiety..i take them like i would take an aspirin for a headache..benzos alleviate anxiety but at same time will dull you out, can cause depression and many cognitive problems..btw the higher dosage i take of benzo usually the worse i feel, mood plummets, sex drive is gone, i become an asshole..benzos just arent a fun drug imo..

problem is for people with bad anxiety, benzos do help..
