taking Tramadol, then Kratom??

This acquaintance of mine, Sam, had a very low opiate tolerance to hydrocodone (about 30 mg a day for a 3 months). He is kicking the habbit and has some tramadol(50 mg) and kratom(Bali) to take over the next few days. Is there any harm in combining the two? Has anyone had any experience with this? Sam has heard that if you take tramadol first, it could block anything else that binds on opiate receptors (such as kratom). Sam took 150 mg of tramadol about 5 hours ago, and is debating on taking some kratom in fear of drug interactions. Any shared experience/advice/pointers would be greatly appreciated, especially by Sam.

Update - For anyone who may be Interested, Sam ingested roughly 8 g of Kratom. He said there is no crazy reactions or side effects from the combo however both substances were ingested around 6 hours apart, so there's that. He is feeling a mild, yet pleasant opiate buzz and suggests a couple tokes of Mary to go with it.

I've mixed the two many times, the most recent being yesterday as a matter of fact...no negative interactions. However I suspect that the combo may make you more prone to seizures than you already would be from the tramadol alone, due to the noradrenaline release from kratom but this is just a hunch. As for your kick, good luck . Just keep in mind that subsubstituting kratom and tramadol for hydrocodone will only prevent any actual detox from taking place, so be sure to taper these if you plan on making any real progress.

I've also mixed them together a few times. I take my usual kratom dose and either pop 150mg all at once or take 50mg every 30 minutes. I don't notice it being much stronger than the kratom itself but the buzz lasts 3 times longer.

Thanks for the feedback! So taking the others for a few days won't actually detox the hydros? I know they're both opiod binding receptors, however they are very different so I thought there was a possibility that after not taking the hydros for a few days and taking the others to avoid withdrawal instead would be ok, thus a few days later you could stop taking everything all together. This is incorrect?

Correct, sadly withdrawal just doesn't work that way. Only way to really make any progress is to allow your body to be opioid free, once stopping the kratom and tramadol you'll be right back in withdrawal.
