Taking tramadol for the first time

Hey there,

I have done a search but for my own peace of mind I'd rather get a response that's buit to me. I currently have a horrendous cold thats attacking pretty much my throat and neck exclusively. Swollen glands and the lot. I've taken 3x doses of 2x cold medicine over the day within 4-5 hour increments (Paracetamol 500mg, caffeine 25mg & Phenylephrine HCL 6.1mg (yea yea i know i know you meth heads) ). Last dose was about 4 hours ago.

So because of the caffeine and a combination of me being a pussy when it comes to colds i've not slept very much. I've drank plenty of liquids and eaten a lot of ice cream and bread lol. To help ease the pain and try and make me sleepy 3x 50mg tramadol hcl capsules from the hospital magically appeared out of no where. I took one just to help ease the pain and hopefully get me sleepy. I've since then looked into the recreational value of tramadol on here and I've got 100mg left and I took the first 50mg about an hour and ten mins ago. Would it be worth necking the other two?

Ps. As you can probably tell by the noob of a question this is. I have absolutely no experience with opiates. So no tolerance at all. The only time i've taken them was when I had an operation and was prescribed co dydramol.

How are you feeling at the moment? If you have no tolerance, 100-150mg should have you feeling good, though tramadol can be a bit hit and miss. I'd say go ahead and try another cap, see how you feel after half an hour, then maybe take the 3rd.
There can be some interactions with stimulants and tramadol, it being an SNRI, though I think the doses as well as the fact they are very weak stimulants means that you have nothing to worry about.
 
You will either feel real warm and fuzzy if you take all 3 or nothing at all either than pain relief. TBH, just take them one at a time as you need them so you can get some better pain relief than cold medicine can offer. Flip side, 200-250mg of DXM can make you nice and comfy ;)
 
Feeling a bit chilled and I can feel something (i think) don't know if it's threshold or placebo. It's defo helped with the throat though. I'll be popping it in a mo.

Right as I was grabbing it I thought to myself and realised 'actually I am feeling something and it's quite pronounced'. It's quite nice and 'woozy' feeling. I'm feeling apprehensive to try another one and I'm unsure why. We'll I had a surprise the other week from what I thought was valium (was only mean tot be 7.5mg of val). As it happens it wasn't and it gave me an anxiety attack (due to the surprise factor) but felt very chilled once it died down. From what we assumed it was 3mg xanax. Would it be worth taking another one or would it potentially spoil what I'm feeling now? Am I just letting my anxiety getting the better of me? lol..
 
Either way I've decided to leave it at 50mgs and see how this does me. Isn't bad really! Will probably give 50 + 50 a go in a week maybe. Not too sure if this is for me though. Out of curiosity would having done mdma a week ago have any effect of taking tramadol? I've read it can release serotonin.
 
Tramadol is an odd thing. I have NEVER been able to get any sort of buzz from it whatsoever. Back when it first came out (Ultram) I had a sprained ankle, and my doctor had shitloads of free samples of Ultram, and gave me a paper bag filled with them. There had to have been at least 100 in that bag, and I took wads of them, and never felt anything at all. All I knew about them at that time was they didn't do shit for me, and I wound up throwing them in the trash if I remember correctly. I've never had trouble getting a buzz from hydrocodone or any opiate, even Kratom gives me a nice mild buzz. I've tried tramadol in the last year, and still it just does nothing for me. I guess everyone is different .
 
Yea the more I look into it the weirder it gets. The variation of reports is crazy! For a good hour / hour.5 I was completely nutted on 50mgs! I'm feeling a bit more myself now. No wait... is coming in waves... lol but is a very strange sensation. Can't see myself getting into opiates really. Blessing in disguise?
 
Don't get into opiates. You might find out you like them and it is quite easy to fuck your entire life up behind them . Stay away .
 
Oh I know this very well. Cheers for the concern but I'm especially careful when it comes to experimenting with things like this (as you could probably tell by the posts %) ) I don't think they suit my personality really... more of an uppers man myself. ;) Don't even really like getting drunk that much! Only downers I go for is weed (And the occasional benzo after a night out or the ultra rare chill out treat).
 
Tramadol certainly is a funny drug, having both SNRI and opioid agonist effects.. people's experiences vary hugely.

Probably is a blessing in disguise that you haven't fallen in love with opiates, you're right, haha.. anyway, as you've taken it now, I think this thread has run it's course so I'm going to close it. Feel free to update us in the social thread if you like! :)
