Taking the plunge. Cold turkey? Methadone/Suboxone? Help!

Hey everyone. I've been on Methadone "detox" for about 5 and a half months now. The highest I got was 40mg, and now I've been at 20 for quite a while. I'm feeling very stable, but I'm ready to come off for good. I have a couple of questions regarding Methadone and Suboxone.

1. I've heard that Suboxone is easier to drop than Methadone. Is this true?
2. How long do I need to wait after my last methadone dose to take my Suboxone?
3. Is subutex a better option that Suboxone?
4. If I do have to withdraw for three days, would it be better to forego the suboxone all together and just suffer through a week or two of Methadone WD?

I just finished spring quarter, so I have the ability to lay around and suffer, but I'm deathly afraid of the pain and discomfort. I want to avoid it as much as possible. The way I see it I could:

1. Switch from Methadone to Suboxone after a short WD period, and then detox from the Subs (hopefully over the course of two weeks or less.)
2. Reduce my Methadone dose to 10mg over the next 2 weeks and then go cold turkey.
3. A combination of the two. (Reduce my dose to 10mg and then switch to suboxone for a week or two)

Would it be a terrible idea to take 5mg or so of Methadone once the Suboxone withdrawal sets in, or would that only prolong the torment? I've experienced withdrawal from Dilaudid, Heroin, and Oxy, once each at different times and it was pure misery. I hear that Methadone and Suboxone are even worse. What can I do to make this as easy as possible? Home remedies, prescription drugs, OTC drugs, anything at all to make the experience less painful would be really great.

Any advice or experiences you can share with me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!
