Can that stop you from getting addicted? for example ive taken tramadol last tuesday up until that thursday, then friday I took a day break, then saturday I dosed again, sunday I didn't dose, and now tonite I want to again? Does that also bring tolerance down a little bit by doing that? and when does someone usually get addicted to opiates? As in whats the average time for someone to get addicted if their doing it daily without breaks.

I always take at least one week or few days break it worked for me otherwise I think it would be too much tempting and some serious shit could happend

and I remeber old chinese saying one who takes opiates one week every day has a life time mission

Addiction depends solely on the user...here's a few definitions that will help you out...

Addiction: a psychological dependence on a substance that is characterized by drug seeking behaviors

Dependence: a physiological response in which a user of a substance becomes chemically dependent upon said substance and will experience withdrawals; patients who take drugs for longer than a month or so usually become dependent on their medications

Tolerance: a physiological response in which a certain amount of a drug doesn't have the same effect as it once did on a user of a substance...

You're probably already addicted, but your not dependent...not everyone has them, but be careful because tramadol withdrawals can be hell and can last up to a week as far as acute affects go...

Physically, it might slow down the addiction aspect, but don't forget the mental.

Just because you aren't physically addicted to something doesn't mean you aren't mentally addicted. Opiates in particular are psychologically very addictive. I would advise you take a break in between doses of at least 3 or 4 days. If you do it too often, you'll constantly think about the next high. Not only is this very depressing, but it takes away from reality and the now of the moment.

Dependence can still form with one day breaks. The larger the interval the better, 3 days is the average recommended usually.

The magic is robbed quickly from you with consecutive daily use, and it never quite comes back the same way.

J.Wallace has the right idea, 3 or 4 days is best if you want to avoid building a dependence.

^ what they all said. Sorry for not responding to your last pm Siccness, I get a lot and it can take a while plus as you can see it is usually better to start a thread and get a range of perspectives :)

Every other day is way too much if you don't want to get addicted (who does?). You'll find yourself craving on your off days. Then you do it 3 days in a row and think "hey that wasn't so bad". It will lead down a bad path man.

If you take it for pain how can you take breaks from it? What do you use in its place? I take hydrocodone for low back hip pain every day.

No worries effie:) its all good, and Well ive done alot of harder opiates in the past, but i recently got ahold of these, i kno tramadols weak, but shit i jus like having a buzz. Makes me in a good state of mind, and i feel a little good, wel i REALLY do wanna take some tonight, but I guess Ill listen to you guys and wait a couple more days. I only have about 300mgs left, which is a decent buzz considering I havent taken harder opiates in months, I took a 3-4 month break and I barely started using again this past week. But yea no prescribed reason to take it just recreational haha:)
