Taking drugs into your old age

Can't say I've noticed any problems in the trouser department tbh. The only issue there is that the wife's on the menopause, so it's Mrs palm and her five lovely daughters for me these days... :ROFLMAO:
Or as the lad who wrote most of the songs for the band put it, "welcome, the five fingered widow!" (And we wondered why most liberal types were horrified by the band's songs! 🤣)
I guess smoking crack is out of the question then?

Bugger.
Nah, just stop if the headache becomes unbearable!

Nah don't worry, they've now dropped the old (basically unfounded) dogma about mixing stims and beta-blockers. They're a very safe combo, promise, cross my heart, etc.

I get lorazepam prescribed, but the (sort of) benzo I wish I could still access, is etizolam

I never really rated lorazepam or etizolam. But I'd love a script for clonazepam...

Many people have said to me that stopping smoking is harder than quitting heroin. My response has always been 'I wouldn't know, I've never tried to stop smoking". It's a cliché, but fuckin true...
I never got addicted to smoking in the first place. Sometimes I did for a few weeks or months, then I seemed kind of stupid to me. Doc once said I have no addictive personality, I think that's why I got half-year prescriptions for benzos. And much as I like them, after taking them like candy for ten days straight I kind of lose interest.
@F.U.B.A.R. I have that script you want :p

Yes, I got bored with repeat scripts for morphine, when the cats tried to kill me (well, gave me a septic abscess, after using my thigh, as a springboard). First week was nice, but after that, being perm fucked on opiates got boring rather quickly (to qualify that, the idea of getting bored with prescribed dexedrine is preposterous!)

I have NEVER smoked a cigarette (by that I mean just tobacco). Comes of years, as a kid, being stuck in the back of a car, when both my parents smoked. I'd love to know who postulated that if your parents smoked, you were more likely to: all the people I know who smoke weed, but have neved smoked tobacco, had both parents as smokers...

Both available on clearnets - in theory, that is there are a lot of fake Benzos doing the rounds, but Wedinos can clarify.

and for lowering cholesterol plant sterols can actually work well - they did for me

Prefer statins and huge lumps of Lurpak butter on toast (or for frying, baking etc).

Just one heart attack isn't going to put me off butter! 😁
There's no way I'm giving up butter for health conscious margarines such as fucking "Flora" either. One tastes absolutely delicious and the other is completely revolting. That is the only consideration worth bothering about as far as I'm concerned.

I've given up smoking cigarettes, several years ago now, and that is my one major concession to looking after and considering my long term health. Compared to smoking, I feel that choosing to live (or not) with whatever butter is going to do to my arteries over the course of many years is a price totally worth paying. I'd rather enjoy things with butter on them and live less long, rather than not enjoy food with all those nasty tasting low cholesterol spreads.,

I've witnessed first hand what smoking did to my Grandad. He was in a terrible state by his late 50s, and brown bread at 62. Not even getting close to the retirement that he'd worked so hard for and financially prepared for. A real shame that he didn't look after his health as well as he did his finances.

Butter isn't actully unhealthy for you. Heavily processed and refined foods like margarine are worse. Natural fats - whether they're saturated or unsaturated are an essential part of a diet - much more so than carbohydrates. The fats you should cut down on are the trans-fats.

'Fat' is an unfortunate colloquial name for lipids because of its negative conotations

Well that's good to know if it's true. But tbh I start to become disinterested and confused about all the different types of fats and which ones are supposed to be healthy one month, and then suddenly not healthy the next month, and vice-versa. The seemingly constantly changing narrative about fats pisses me off and I'm not interested enough to make the effort to keep up with it.....I just stick to what I like the taste of lol.

This is an excellent book for clarifying the confusion over the different macronutrients and their effect - very sensibly written. It's pennies for a second-hand copy:

Was about to write something along those same lines. I even was told to AVOID margarine by a nutritionist who advised me on my food allergies. And another big misconception is that gluten thing. I'm intolerant to yeast. Most bread isn't baked properly nowadays, so people can heat it up at home or freeze it, or it's just a cheaper and faster. I couldn't eat bread without getting stomach cramps, and was told it was gluten-related. Ubutntil.all the tests revealed that it was in fact because of the not fully, or too fermented yeast. If I toast the bread, then there's less problem for me.
BTW: Same goes for beer. Some kinds I can, some I can't drink.

I actually am aware of that; I was jst using it as a means of comment on people who give up everything enjoyable, in an effort to get a telegram from the ruling monarch, on their 100th birthday.

If I have to die of something, I would rather it was due to something that made my life up to that point, something enjoyable...

Drugs in moderation aren’t that bad for you, but as a natural worrier, I’d be concerned about eventually being caught. Everything leaves an electronic trail and increasing surveillance online. The Psychoactive Ban essentially criminalises everything, even nootropics and the likes of phenibut.

I also need to be able to visit family in the USA so can’t risk even a caution.

I’ve been reading about how the current government (and even Sir Kier Starmer) as well as police commissioners in southwest England are shifting towards a harder stance on users vs dealers. It’s strange how Britain is going backwards rather than towards the decriminalisation in much of North America and parts of Europe.

I’m pragmatic though and want to avoid stress. My spouse and friends in ‘real life’ are all nonusers. They don’t approve but turn a blind eye.

So I doubt if I’d still be taking drugs by my sixties, being realistic.

I don’t agree with the dacronian prohibitive policies but it’s not risk ruining one’s life by getting a criminal record.
