Seems a good place to post this. If I had seen this without seeing who was selling it I would have considered it unscientifc marketing (it still might be) but was surprised it was being sold by what was thought a reputable company. [EDIT] Me thinks my view was slightly wrong on review
On the ingredients it just lists mostly sugars and GABA 200mg. (^apparantely not synthetic though)
Do anyone know what form it might be in? Possibly a protein which contains GABA?
Of course it could all be rubbish. If gaba has been modified in any way (e.g phenibut) it no longer becomes GABA and if in the form of a protein - surely it should be labelled as such. Strange.
Since GABA does not cross the blood-brain barrier very well, virtually all of the GABA found in the brain is manufactured there. This implies that supplemental GABA would not increase levels of GABA in the brain. That appears to be the case with synthetic GABA, but not with PharmaGABA™ which is naturally manu factured from Lactobacillus hilgardii - the bacteria used to ferment vegetables in the preparation of the traditional Korean dish known as kimchi.
Unlike synthetic GABA, PharmaGABA™ appears to cross the blood brain barrier to produce re-laxation. Like L-theanine, PharmaGABA™ in creases brain alpha waves and lowers beta- waves. However, it is more powerful in this action compared to L-theanine, hence, its effects are a bit more noticeable.
