So here is my situation, I started the suboxone therapy last week, today is day 4 of taking it. It is helping with mental cravings, as well as physical. However I am curious about this. I am not sure if I am going to do it, because well heroin has wrecked my life, so this is all hypothetical. Has anyone ever used suboxone as a way of controlling their use? Meaning take it 6 days out of the week and doing opiates on like the 7th day, and hopping back on subs to prevent going crazy with it? I mean it sounds like it could work in theory, even though I know this is not the purpose of suboxone, and I am weary of trying this just because of how powerful heroin is.

So if I DID want to do this, how long would I have to wait after my last dose of subs to actually get a decent high? I am on 6mgs a day, and will drop to 4mgs a day on Tuesday. Would I need to wait 24-36 hours?

I know its a low low dose, so I thought 24 hours would be enough. But then again I am not sure I even want to do this. But if I did please fill me in! Tghanks

No one can tell you for certain.

You will have to consult the compendium of empirical information contatined within bluelight and the internet at large. Half-life charts are useful when discussing methadone or buprenorphine dosing. The biggest factor is your own body though. Everyone is different and you may be a faster or slower, efficient or inefficient metabolizer of buprenorphine. Assuming you've had past experience with being on and off of bupe (short or long term use), how has it worked out for you previously?

With that said, 24 hours is a minimum, 72 hours until you'll get the "full-effect" of your usual dose of opioid. The blockade effect of buprenorphine will continue past this 72 hour mark, it will just get increasingly less significant. Again, consult the half-life graphs. As always, this is just for reference sake.

No, this is my first time on suboxone therapy. I may or may not do it and I'm leaning toward not doing it. Dope took me to a dark lonely place, but I see this as a possible means of controlling it and still being an effective member of society and living my life efficiently. What are your thoughts on this?
