Takes FOREVER for an effect

So just bought a half oz of some herb the other day, and well it wasn't my usual kush I've been buying.
This stuff takes forever to feel anything!
I ended up smoking a whole gram in less then 10 mins and I wasn't high.
Well I thought I just got some shawg since I wasn't high.
Fastforward about 20 mins, im driving to my girlfriends house then BAM!
Im stoned as fuck driving on the the icy highway.
Like it was the most stoned I have been for awhile.
Talked to my dealer about the stuff, she calls it "creeper weed".
Has anyone else came across this sort of weed?
And why does it take so LONG to take affect?
Would it take even longer i made edibles with this "creeper weed"
 
I have smoked what is reffered to as "creeper weed" before and it took anywere from 10-20 minutes to feel the full effects ,but they were always fairly strong when the came on. I have wondered myself why this happens(the slow onset of the high) since THC in weed smoke is rapidly absorbed from the lungs into the bllodstream. I would like to know why it has the "creeper effect" myself.
 
i think this effect is due to other cannabinoids present other than THC.
kinda frustrating as it makes it hard to titrate the dose.
 
some strains/varieties of cannabis have the feature of the high being a creeper.
as in it creeps up on you.

just as with wine, there are as many different strains/varieties of cannabis each with their own features and effects.
