System of A Down

^ Is that really an unpopular opinion? Almost every SOAD fan I've ever met preferred Serj to Daron. I certainly think Serj is the real talent in the band, anyway.

How much did Serj's voice change on later albums, especially live performances? Kinda went from metal to orchestral rock..

You're thinking of Serj's solo stuff. His recent albums have been pretty orchestral and indulgent.

^I just meant "in the minority" in this thread. I didn't word that very clearly.
The people I know that like the band do much prefer Serj's voice and vocal style to Daron Malakian's.
I have never understood why Malakian's vocals became so much more prominent as the albums went along.
Toxicity, IMO, ruined what they could have been.
There was some really good songs, but it was so much more melodic than the first album.
I wish they'd stuck to the harder edge that they had in the self titled debut. And the haunting type songs like Spiders.
I hear Aerials and kind of wanna puke. I know people love Toxicity. Just my opinion.

Debut self titled album is one of my fav. albums of all time in all genres of music..I owned this album before most people had even heard of SOAD... Toxicity is close too... when 'Steal this album came out i wish i did steal it and not pay for it cause it sucked... havent bothered with them since, but yeah live would be great, just bought Serjs Imperfect Harmonies album and mixed feelings.... mostly bad, although a song 'Borders are.. isnt to bad.

i didn't like them back when, 2001-ish, when i first heard them. my roommate and the guy we got shrooms from our first night meeting, and his friends, all loved it, and i put up with it. hated it- the obnoxiousness, didn't mind the melodic parts. now, i do like it. i forget when it happened, but it just did.

i saw them up in detroit this last august.

there's one song i wish i could locate of theirs, and i forget how it went. heard it one night on a delivery, and just can't remember.
