Forgive me for my lack of understanding of cannabinoid receptors, but I'm full of curiosity.
I understand these chemicals were created for "research purposes", but what scientific breakthroughs have been made as a result of their synthesis? What's the point of creating 450 synthetic analogues of THC, yet not taking the next step and actually using some of these chemicals for medical treatment? Is Dr. Huffman's goal to essentially create a pharmaceutical that combats nausea without getting you high, and is this even possible?
From what I have seen, most of Dr. Huffman's analogues are exponentially more active on CB1/CB2 receptors than THC. Doesn't this imply that most of these analogues will get you high? How is Dr. Huffman going to ever know if any of these chemicals can me used medicinally if he doesn't accept the risk and start running clinical trials? He claims the consumption of these analogues is like playing Russian Roulette, but isn't that true with basically any new chemical? Why turn a blind eye and automatically disregard human consumption, whenever it is human consumption that will contribute more research than anything? With people readily buying these chemicals across headshops worldwide, you would assume that if we truly wanted to research and embrace the medicinal potential of these chemicals, we would start yanking these guinea pigs off the streets and running clinical trials!
