Everyone knows someone who has died. In the circles of Estonian friends who use "china white", death is a constant possibility. They know that. But that does not mean they can stop. "It's so addictive," says Marko, who has lost two friends to overdoses, and survived two himself. In Estonia, the drug - whose proper name is fentanyl - is taking a heavy toll of young people. Nationally, drug overdoses now kill more people than road accidents.

Fentanyl is a synthetic form of heroin, produced in clandestine laboratories across the border in Russia. It has almost completely replaced heroin on the Estonian market, and is much more deadly.

"China white" is some fent analogue. It killed a bunch of Soviets in/around 2007, but also a lot of Canadian & Americans, including some Bluelighters.
 
"People who are used to china white don't feel heroin any more. [Heroin] doesn't give any effect after china white. I found it meaningless," Ragnar says.

I've never used fent, but the trip reports I've read here rate it as inferior to heroin in euphoria and enjoyability. Maybe (as I suspect) it's not actually fentanyl that they're making in these labs. It could be sufentanyl or alpha-methyl fentanyl.
 
^surely they just become really tolerant physically and psychologically and so would require huge amounts of heroin should they go back?
 
im from Estonia (Tallinn) and ive been using 3-methylfentanyl for 2-3 years now, about 50€ worth every day.
a gram costs [no prices]. that gets you about 28-33 single doses which would be [no prices] if bought separately.
its a bitch to withdraw from but at least the wd goes over fast.

Wow that is so interesting. I wrote an article in high school about the Russian theatre hostage situation in which they used 3-MF in aerosol form to wipe out the 'terrorists' but subsequently killed (all?) the majority of the hostages. I believe it was in relation to the police unit dispensing the gas and the emergency response teams not having proper communications between each other. This is a very regular thing in north america also.

The thing that really worries me about 3-mf is what they would have to cut it with. Basically you would have to slightly cut an inert substance WITH the 3-mf which I imagine is a big contributor to the overdoses.

I am in Canada myself. Since Oxycontin has stopped being produced several people have died from fentanyl overdoses in my small town. Funeral this easter friday :(

Ive used fentanyl and it seriously lacks any euphoria. As a painkiller i haven't had anything better but euphoria wise it doesn't even beat oxycodone let alone morphine or hydromorphone. But I'm a weird fucker and i don't like oxy that much.

Fent absolutely skyrockets your tolerance and the fent analogs are even worse. That's why they can't enjoy heroin anymore.

I mean come on is it that hard to look up what fentanyl is related to? It's related to Demerol (meperidine, pethidine) not diamorphine. Surely someone at the BBC could have atleast looked that up.
 
According to media - if it's an opiate, it's related to heroin. Also, all dealers are looking for kids and heroin is made in toilets, cut with glass and will make anyone kill their own mother and child to get their next hit. Propaganda does not need to make sense.
 
Never had tar heroin, thankfully. But, really? You must hate Mexicans then and it's good to see the propaganda is working on you.
