Hello all :)
In Auckland, NZ there is some stuff called synthetic cocaine going around. I tried a little bit about a week ago and enjoyed it (only had a small dose)

I was wondering what the actual chemical is or what exactly is in it? I know the chemial is not illegal here atm but have no idea what it is.

Thanks :)

could be Mephedrone, MDPV, or there is something called Tropacocaine that is made from Atropine...

PS welcome to Bluelight.

I live in the U.S so i wouldnt know for sure but i have heard of people using powdered methylphenidate which is the main ingrediant in the prescription drug Ritalin, the compound is very similiar to cocaine and effects the body in the same way.

It could be just about any compound and without proper testing then there is no way to accurately answer your question. One compound that has been doing the rounds lately is Dimethocaine which has similar CNS activity but requires higher doses than what's required with Cocaine.

Check out the Dimethocaine - the "larrikin" relative of cocaine thread for further information regarding this compound.

Yeah it's Dimethocaine (3-diethylamino-2,2-dimethylpropyl)-4-aminobenzoate which would be the synthetic cocaine you would be talking about.

fuzzy robe: Is it a legal substitute or is it illegal?

Alot of people claim mephedrone to be like coke. Don't really think it is.

is dimethocaine legal in Oz?

WIN-35,428 is another synthetic drug that replicates the effects of cocaine and is apparently the active in some bath salts.

It's probably dimethocaine. I've heard a few reports of that going around as "synthetic coke" here on Bluelight already. If you have to snort cocaine-sized lines to feel it, then it's probably dimethocaine. If you only have to take tiny 5mg bumps, it's probably MDPV.

As stated earlier, we can only speculate but I've noticed a lot of mdpv going around melb as of late known as 'synthetic cocaine' or 'poison'.

I've smoked it a few times and it's very similar to crack. Awesome rush, but horrible comedown everytime..

south east coast there is synthetic cocaine going around I cant remember the name it may be that mephedrone or whatever shit but i think it was like a 2C or 2B blah blah blah really... or maybe something that started with a ph. It's called "rock hard" down hear because it gives snorters a high but you cant shoot it or smoke it and it rocked up just coke, smells , numbs, and tastes, just like coke. I've been curious about this too.

Drugs that mimic cocaine see sales soar
11/01/2010 - 09:15:35

Sales of legal drugs that mimic cocaine are on the increase.

Alternative lifestyle shops around the country have been selling out of the legal drugs.

The drugs are labelled as plant food or novelty bath salts and are labelled as "not for human consumption".

Known as snowblow, charge or white ice - the drugs are synthesised in laboratories to mimic the effects of illegal drugs such as cocaine and amphetamines.

The power substances are on sale in head shops - retail outlets that specialise in drug paraphernalia.

It is the latest craze to hit the party scene but doctors are now warning of the side effects which include nose bleeds, blood circulations problems, paranoia, fits and delusions.

Ingredients: Caffeine, Acoru Calamus, Hydrastis Canadensis, Tilia Europea, Paulina Capana, L-taurine, Menthol.

Their user-friendly names are Charge, White Ice or Snowblow and they cost about €30 a gram.

Synthesised in laboratories to mimic the effects of illegal drugs such as cocaine and amphetamines, legal powder substances on sale in head shops – retail outlets that specialise in drug paraphernalia – are the latest craze to hit the legal drugs trade.

Industry sources have indicated sales of the substances – Snowblow is advertised as a BZP-free Columbian powder substitute – have skyrocketed in recent months, sometimes even selling out on busy weekends.

Ingredients, according to their packaging, are caffeine and other herbal extracts and vitamins, but it is known they contain drugs called flephedrone mephedrone, street name mcat, or methylone.

The rise in mephedrone use came following the ban of another drug, BZP, in March last year.

Mephedrone has already been banned in Sweden (where it was linked to the death of a young woman in 2008, Denmark and Israel.

But it is legal elsewhere because it is not derived from any of the banned Class A drugs.

It comes instead from a compound of cathinone, which is a Class C drug, and derivatives of this drug are not currently controlled.

While little is known about the drugs, side-effects are said to include nose bleeds, nose burns, hallucinations, blood circulation problems, rashes, anxiety, paranoia, fits and delusions.

Senior lecturer in pharmacology at University College Cork, Dr John Cryan, said products like Charge and White Ice comprise chemicals which are structurally not so different from those used in illicit substances.

"These are dangerous drugs to be playing around with especially in combination with alcohol."

Emergency Department consultant Dr Chris Luke said the public needed to be aware that the products were untested and potentially lethal.

In December six young people were admitted to Cork University Hospital suffering the ill-effects of herbal highs. Dr Luke said he was "increasingly agitated and annoyed" by the head shop retailers.

Afaik the only 'bath salt' thats rumored to contain that is ivory wave (now called vanilla sky) and most people have reported horrible effects from it after the high wears off

Nah i'd bet my lucky socks that its dimethocaine

it is possible to synthesis (analouges are used as anasthetics) but would be unfavourable becuase its much cheaper to isolate from plant.
