Synthetic cannabinoid legality

I haven't been on here in quite a while, I have no idea what's going on with the new sections and stuff so if this is misplaced, obviously the mods can feel free to move it to wherever it belongs. Last time I was here, the synthetic cannabinoid discussions were thrown from megathreads to psychedelic drugs to cannabis discussion and so on and so forth.

Just wondering, federally, what is the legality of various synthetic cannabinoids currently? I tried looking it up and it's just a mess of mass media drones saying "k2 is bad, kay?"

I believe they are illegal in most states now, federally they are defiantly illegal.
